September 26, 200916 yr I was somewhat surprised to not see a winner thread so here it is albeit somewhat late. Peavy looked great. He pitched 7 innings ( pitch count 95) gave up 6 hits ( 2 bunt hits ,an infield chopper and a bloop) so he wasn't hit hard at all but had to escape a few jams and induced a couple of DP ground balls. He walked 2 and K'ed 8 and gave up no runs. His pitches had all kinds of movement and looked nasty. The Sox won 2-0. The Sox offense made another no name pitcher look like Cy Young but a Beckham HR after a crucial error by Inge on a rountine Rios grounder produced the 2 runs. The Beckham HR was his 58th RBI which leads all AL rookies and also broke up a no hitter by Eddie Bonine in the 6th inning. Randy Williams, Octavio Dotel and Matt Thornton shut down the Tigers the rest of the way with Thornton picking up his 2nd save of the season. Sox pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/media/vide...s&topic_id= Video highlights here including an interview of Peavy after the game by Harold Reynolds and Mitch Williams of MLB.TV Edited September 26, 200916 yr by CaliSoxFanViaSWside
September 26, 200916 yr Peavy is a stud. If he's healthy next year, our rotation could be very special.
September 26, 200916 yr posted in the game thread, but worth posting in the winner thread... I was at the game and it was very exciting to see Peavy pitch the way he did against the 1st place team in our division. I am really excited for the rotation next year
September 26, 200916 yr The thing I like most about Peavy is his attitude. I think the White Sox have had talent the past few years but they lack fire. Buehrle, Floyd, Danks, Jenks, Thome, Konerko, Quentin and Dye are all too quiet.
September 26, 200916 yr Author Peavy 2010 # 1 starter, Beckham 2010 # 3 hitter ,Thornton 2010 closer.
September 26, 200916 yr I've talked to a few scouts about Jake Peavy, and the first thing all of them said about him was "This guy is a competitor."

September 26, 200916 yr QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 26, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) Peavy 2010 # 1 starter, Beckham 2010 # 3 hitter ,Thornton 2010 closer. I think Thornton can get the job done too, but then we'd need to get two good lefties in here instead of one and just bringing in one is a tall order in itself. That said, the Sox looked awesome last night. That was one of the seemingly few occasions this year where they were getting shut down by a pitcher with good stuff and yet still came up with a clutch hit to win a close ballgame. That game last night reminded me of so many other games during that one season where we didn't suck.

September 26, 200916 yr I agree it's fun to see a Sox player (pitcher) show some emotion. It's nice to watch.
September 27, 200916 yr Well now we know why Hawk wasn't in the booth tonight. He was home on Soxtalk.
September 27, 200916 yr Sox still haven't won a game started by somebody other than Peavy in a long time. This team has a lot to fix before next season.

September 28, 200916 yr Why lol southsider? You disagree when I say we have a lot to fix? We did win today, however, finally with somebody besides Peavy starting. We ended the year at home finally winning a home series as well. A positive.
