That file does not work.

Worked for me.

Thanks cw42!

If their coverage wasn't garbage I'd give them my business.

Nice.

Alright, rant time! I am a QWERTY man and finding a quality QWERTY is like finding a hobo with a job.

I have this Samsung Stratosphere and it's the absolute worse piece of s*** ever. I am due for an upgrade. Are there any good Verizon 4G LTE phones that are quality smartphones?

as long as you stay in the "metro" areas of the top 100 markets, you are ok. And if you stay near a highway, you are normally ok. The problem is when you drift away from those, they are practically non-existent and you end up moving over to ATT.

This. Any of the carriers not named Verizon or AT&T are simply no-gos for me because of coverage. Even Sprint, which I consider #3, is garbage in terms of coverage.

Not true here where Sprint is the biggest pile of crap. Counting down the days until my contract is up. Ugh

T-Mobile is pretty fantastic in Baltimore and DC as long as you don't leave the metro area, and it's EDGE. It's nice that they're finally getting LTE and its really fast even with 1 bar, I see it on LTE in more places every day, but those rural towers could really use some HSPA, let alone LTE.

Ah, thanks for reminding me why HTC shouldn't be trusted, HTC.

They make great phones, but they give you one solid update and that's it. Meanwhile Apple still is sending updates for the 4S.

Pretty good down here in Austin too. I'll get full bars of LTE in certain areas. 25 down and 10 up with 40 ms latency.

My signal at home and at work are spotty, but with T-Mobile that's sort of expected.

That's the problem with them. Actually, that's the problem with a lot of them. This lack of continued support is troubling, especially in an era of security flaws/holes, etc., that absolutely need to be patched on devices that basically carry everything about your identity, from banking, to credit cards, email, etc.

The days of yearly upgrades to cellular phones are over for most people (I think), so software updates mean more than ever before. Especially when you're talking about devices that cost 200$+ locked in contracts or 600-800$ without a contract. These devices need to be supported for people that don't hack/root/etc.

I'm not saying they should support devices for 5 years, either...I'm thinking by then an upgrade is in order, but 2 years (at LEAST the length of the contract) should be mandatory.

FWIW, HTC is still pooping out updates for the other phones it released at that time, just not the One S (unfortunately, it is probably because very, very few people got the One S).

Something is off about this...mobile phones draw between ~4-5 volts. That's less than sticking your tongue on a 9 volt.

There's no defending this. The iPhone 5 is the Aaron Hernandez of smartphones.

Aaron Hernandez was also the owner of numerous iPhone 5s.

I think it's the perfect verb

Android 4.3 is a very minor update.

I just flashed it today.

There's Bluetooth Low Energy and a new camera app that's about it from a user standpoint. If you're streaming from a car over BT, song information should show up (I've yet to try, will do this on the drive home). There should be a few fixes and security patches (including the most recent security exploits that have surfaced), but that's about it.

I have to imagine Apple checked but the first thing that popped in my head is I wondered it it was a knock off iphone.

now they are reporting that it was an iPhone 4 not 5, which would make a difference and that most likely she was using a third party charger/connector. via macrumors
