Damn, it has been too long since I've been back home. I will be back up in July and looking for a concert. Any suggestions?

I saw AC/DC there way back when. First row. LOst my hearing for a while. It was known as the Aragon Brawl Room.

House of Blues usually has nice events.

Schubas and the Beat Kitchen. But that might be too young of a crowd for you Tex. ;)

Also, U2 (July 6) and Bon Jovi (July 30) are playing Soldier Field.

I'll be at U2 with my wife and my she's going to see Bon Jovi without me.

Used to love going to see the Otters at Schubas. :headbang

Reggies is a cool place. I also like The Bottom Lounge.

The Oak Park Arms has some good polka on Sunday nights. I thought you might like that...considering how old you are.

/green?

The Morseland still around?

The Riviera and I got along very well.

I remember seeing A Tribe Called Quest there about 16 years ago.

Front row for Foo Fighters there, front row for Wilco there, etc.

What kind of show are you looking for?

I'll be at Reggie's on the 26th to see Beak. We know a couple of guys in the band.

Lineup:

  1. Heaving Mass (American Heritage)
  2. Den of Vipers
  3. Beak
  4. Arbogast

Mainstream acts that never play closer than 5 hours from our house. Who is touring this summer?

Here's what I could find for "big name" shows in July:

7/6 U2, Soldier Field

7/9 James Taylor & Carly Simon, United Center

7/16 and 7/17 Doobie Brothers & Chicago, Charter One Pavilion

7/17 Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, United Center

7/18 Iron Maiden First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, Tinley Park

7/30 Bon Jovi, Soldier Field

7/31 Vans Warped Tour, First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, Tinley Park

Where are you getting those? Doobie Bros or Tom Petty would be perfect, but we're getting there the 22 or 23rd.

LOL. I was also checking livenation. The Doobie Bros and Chicago are playing the EAA Show in Oshkosh on the 26th.

Pollstar.com is a good source for concert info. July is still a ways out to get a real idea of what will be happening then.

A lot of the big tours have booked their dates already, but the smaller venues will take their time to see who else goes out.

Elton John is playing some pretty small venues. Has his popularity really fallen that far?

He is awful live now. I saw him and Billy Joel with a free ticket about 5 years ago, and he was a shell of himself. Billy Joel stole the show.
