Rubber Mulch

Featured Replies

Anyone have any experience with it? Thinking of using it under a playset.

Some people swear its the best stuff, others have complained it gets too hot and has an order.

Are you talking the loose stuff or the mats?

I am not sure but I know I would play in it. Tired of getting owee's on cement.

It does stink. They have it in the Chicago Children's Museum. It's in the dinosaur exhibit. You dig through the stuff to find the dinosaur bones. Then again, it is inside, so the stench has nowhere to go.

loose stuff....it's recycled rubber tires. Like this stuff... http://www.rubberecycle.com/playground_rubber_mulch.asp

Yep, I used it once. It may have improved from the early version I used. My biggest problem was the dog enjoyed playing with it. So he would run, grab a chunk and toss it around the yard . . . twenty or thirty times a day . . . each time with a different piece . . . every f***ing day . . . then you hit it with a mower.

It did seem to protect the kids when they fell.

If it wasn't my yard or my mower, it would be hilarious to watch.

It is toxic if ingested, so if you have a toddler, or a dog, you might not want it.

It was my yard and my mower and yes, it was hilarious to watch. Add in the dog waiting for a piece to go flying . . .

And this stuff looks a whole lot better than what I bought, which literally was off the back of a truck with the crew going door to door. They claimed it was left over from a playground project.

When I was a kid, the cement protected me from injury...

Oh, wait.

All the sites I've looked at say it's non-toxic and if it's accidentally ingested it will just pass through the digestive system.

Google rubber playground mulch and toxic. There is plenty of stuff out there on it. At the end of the day, it is tires. There is a reason no one can figure out what to do with them. They are toxic in any form that comes with human or plant contact.

Not a problem, we just put in a playset for the kids this year and it came up.

The rubber mulch can get pricey can you blame him?

On an other note, the stuff can get hot but that is when it is covered by the field turf so that is a large exposed to the sun area.

It is just so damn hard to refrain from eating that mulch.

I keep thinking the title says "Rubber Match" and then I wonder for a second why it's in SLaM.
