Obama vs Israel

Featured Replies

Does it involve Matt Damon jumping through a window?

I don't get this, anything short of the US president completely bending over and putting Israel's priorities ahead of ours, even on our dime and at a cost to our own national security, is considered selling out or turning your back on Israel. What the f*** ever. Israel as a sovereign nation is entitled to put its national security first if it sees fit to do so, and you best believe they do what's best for them even if it hurts us and don't think twice about it. Why are we expected to behave differently?

Obama vs. Netanyahu, maybe... Obama vs. Israel, utter nonsense. Does Obama want to negotiate a peace deal? Yes. Does Netanyahu? Probably not. This doesn't mean Obama's against Israel.

And the right wing drivel you link to? Also, garbage. For one thing, which friggin' New York Times article is he talking about? If I'm correct, and the "press conference" the author is discussing is the one at the Nuclear Summit I think Obama's comments are totally mischaracterized. Obama was not saying Americans are dying in Iraq and Afganistan because of what Isreal is doing, but that the screwed up nature of middle east relations makes things extremely dicey for Americans there. DuH! David Petraeus and Condi Rice have said the same thing.

Reading conservative Jewish commentators opinions on U.S.-Israeli relations is fine, I just hope you mix in other viewpoints as well.

Here are the comments that apparently irked some. Watch the last 3 minutes of the first link, and the rest at the other link. It's his answer to the last question which is of interest.

And I think this is the NY Times article in question.

That attitude is going to keep this conflict going on for another 60 years.

Only 60?
