May 5, 201015 yr he got a couple of walks last night & a nice hit later in the game last night but Beckham is hitting different...Beckham has widened his natural stance & swing. I'm not saying Greg Walker is to blame, but someone should tell him to start with his feet closer together. Watch tonight, he takes a practice cut with his regular swing & then he moves into the batters box with his legs bent & almost pigeon toed. Anyone else notice?

He changed with advice from Walker, and if you ask Beckham its what is saving him this season thus far.

A wider base makes for less movement in a swing. The problem he has right now is excess movement. It makes sense to me.
May 5, 201015 yr He's walked 4 times the last 2 games. Even if he's still not hitting to his standards (hitting at .250 those two games) I'll take him getting on base like that anyday.

So, Beckham struggles, Walker works with him on a solution, and the solution appears to be starting to work... and you think this reflects badly on Walker? This doesn't make any sense to me. I think Walk should have been fired a while ago, along with the other staff responsible for prepping hitters, but the example you give is actually something that Walker did right.
May 5, 201015 yr QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 5, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) Trust me. Beckham is struggling because I spent $150 on a jersey. It is my fault. Hahaha...then you can pin Quentin on me.

May 5, 201015 yr QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) I knew I should have never bought that Paniagua jersey. LOL What a solid inning he gave us for that one game. Inspirational.

The spread stance. He used it with Uribe and with Pablo. It worked a bit with Pablo, not so much with Uribe.

Anyone else notice? his new 3/4th stance when he was doing the practice cuts and the regular swings reminds me of iguchi back in the days. perhaps they both took it from walker?
