Kotsay is the Second Coming of Dan Pasqua

Featured Replies

Mark Kotsay is the second coming of Dan Pasqua. Remember back in 1993, during the playoffs, one of the Sox players commented that they were playing "a man short" because Pasqua was still in the starting lineup. Never could figure out the love for this guy.

I was reminded of "The Hammer" Pasqua yesterday. Bases loaded. Kotsay due up. Indians make a pitching change to lefty Perez. Guillen leaves lefty Kotsay in. He swings at first pitch..pop up to second base! The Sox are again playing a man short running Kotsay out there every day (to say nothing of batting him FIFTH!)

We can't bat Quentin higher because he has underperformed (despite having 32 RBI). Kotsay deserves to bat 5th because he's a VETERAN who was once kind of good several years ago and played on the BRAVES.

That says it all right there

How dare you! What did Mr. Pasqua ever do to you but love you!?

That's a better comparison. You could complain all you wanted about Erstad getting playing time high in the order in 2007, but you also had to tell me which .200 hitting player you wanted hitting there instead.

He should never have been signed in the first place. Because much like Kotsay he was signed under the guise of him being a part time player when in reality it was apparent from the get go that he would play close to everyday and that's just fun for no one.

Kotsay is essentially Jerry Hairston...senior, the pinch hitter extraordinaire. Kotsay hung on with a good team like Boston (until he didn't...) because they had good baseball players and could afford the luxury of spending a roster spot on a pinch hitter. Surprisingly, a pretty good pinch hitter that usually only comes up in clutch situations is no longer clutch...when you make him essentially an every day player.

I don't think there has ever been another Dan Pasqua before Dan Pasqua or since Dan Pasqua. The '90s version of Greg "Bull" Luzinksi

I don't think Kotsay could hold Jerry Hairston Sr's jock. That guy was an incredible pinch hitter off the bench and came through in the clutch quite a bit, I loved him as a kid

Kotsay does a really good job over at 1B.

So did Erstad. But Erstad was also a beast in the OF. Kotsay, not so much now.

Dan Pasqua. I couldn't stand that guy and I was only like 7 years old at the time. He just looked funny.
