How about Francoeur?

Mets Trying To Trade Jeff Francoeur

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [July 22 at 8:04am CST]

The Mets are trying to trade Jeff Francoeur, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. The right fielder is playing less now that Carlos Beltran is healthy, and a friend told Puma that Francoeur would welcome a trade if he were given the chance to play every day.

Francoeur has hit .277/.315/.437 with 18 homers since the Mets acquired him for Ryan Church about a year ago. Much of Francoeur's production came in 2009, however; this year his OPS sits at .673.

Any team looking to add Francoeur will have to consider his $5MM salary (he'll earn about $2MM between now and the end of the season). If Francoeur finishes the season well, his team can retain him for 2011 through arbitration, but he is a non-tender candidate at this point.

Oh god, no. Francouer is the epitome of the guy we don't want on this team. He's like a slightly better right handed version of Joe Borchard.

He hasnt been worth much at all since MLB decided to get tougher on the use of PED's, could be a coincidence, but I doubt it.

Jeff Francour would fit right in with this team. That's a very bad thing. He has an awful approach at the plate.

No way man. Below average all around. The plate discipline of Vlad Guerrero without the ability to make contact.

This is not a rip on any poster.

I think it's cool to see Sox fans rip some other players besides ones on the Sox ... and those would be ones rumored to come to us in a trade.

A good way to finally see rips of other players is to ask if we might want the guy.

Awful is not even a good enough word to describe Jeff Francouer. Outside of the fact he has a ++ throwing arm, he's the very definition of replacement level player.

I think the guy we need is Dunn.

I think what we don't want to do is give up key minor league pieces for a rental.

So that means we won't get Dunn.

$5 million is a steal, he's easily worth $12 million.

How the hell did that guy write a book when he thinks a replacement level player is worth the money of a 3 WAR player?

#Royals like Francoeur. GM Moore had him with #Braves. $5M salary an obstacle. Also: Frenchy 1 more year of arb; potential non-tender. #MLB about 1 hour ago via web

Of course they do. Dayton Moore really is clueless. Isn't this the same guy that stressed OBP when he was first hired then immediately traded for Mike f***ing Jacobs and dealt for Yuniesky Betancourt last year? His team is currently 3rd to last in baseball in walks and he's interested in Jeff Francouer. Holy crap.

The funny thing is that he could have had both for FREE, but gave up something in return.

Jeff Francouer is the perfect guy for Dayton to acquire, he loves replacement level players.

I just have to say that it's entertaining to see a GM of an actual baseball team fail so badly at his job.

I think it's more fun that it's a franchise that was already bad and maintains mediocrity (or worse). It was sad to see Bavasi tear the Mariners apart.

No, its a rip on all of us Greg. Get off your fanboy high horse

Maybe he could help Charlotte or Birmingham.
