We have no situational lefty then. That isn't Sale's only role but right now he's basically that AND a setup guy, depending on how the game is playing out.

 

This is the last ride with Bobby. For old times sake we ride it out and then next year he's probably in a different uniform.

That's just it... If we are running our worst pitchers out in the 7th, there wouldn't be a lead to protect in the 9th

Santos will not be the closer this season. Ozzie has ZERO confidence in him due to the infamous "wall" he believes Santos has hit.

 

 

Santos has struggled as of late and that's becasue of inexperience and his first full year as a pitcher. Sales in just out of college and doesn't even have a full year in professional baseball. To suggest either is ready for the closers role is a bit out there as far as I am concerned. "Bring on the hate" is really not proper either. It is reality and reality is neither is ready for the closers role. They are performing well in their roles and have a tremendous upside. Jenks blew it last night but Ozzie says don't blame Bobby as he has pitched a lot of inning lately. Maybe so, but this is when the big boys step up and perform. I was very happy to see Linebrink do well last night. We are a bit taxed right now and it does seem it is just our relievers taking turns getting bombed and blowing games. But hopefully they right the ship and we make our push to top the Twins with all cylinders firing

I was abit confused by his statement were you too? I thought Bobby was the leader of the bullpen?

I wonder who will be the closer for 2011?

I'm all for it if he uses

as his closer entrance music.

If I were a GM my closer would always be the best young arm I had.

 

Why let anyone close that you will have to pay 5 - 10 million?

 

I think this "trend" of closers making double and triple what other top relievers earn will come to an end soon, but for the time being I wouldn't let anyone close that wasn't under team control and preferably pre-arbitration.

Sale right now has the most confidence than any other pitcher in the bullpen. I'd support the idea.

I dunno...there were plenty of pitches in the 9th yesterday that absolutely sailed. I can't believe he didn't throw a WP with 2 outs and the runner on 3rd, he threw one over AJ's head and then the next one 3 feet outside and AJ had to jump to save both of them.

Stink spreads on this team and Sale will eventually have a bad outing. Last night it looked like he was trying to be too finesse.
