February 18, 201115 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) Rich Harden shuts down for 2 weeks with lat-stiffness. At least there's a precedent if he somehow gets the whole thing torn off. If Harden is injury-ridden like usual, B-Mac could become the 5th starter in Oakland. Edited February 18, 201115 yr by chw42
February 18, 201115 yr Rangers will give Neftali Feliz a chance to work at being a starter in training camp. At least we'll have one comp for Sale :-). Also, Jim Edmonds is retiring.
February 21, 201115 yr Link Justine Siegal became the first woman to pitch batting practice in a major league spring training camp when she threw to the Cleveland Indians. Siegal, a Cleveland native, wore a patch honoring Christina Taylor, the nine-year-old granddaughter of former major league manager Dallas Green, who was killed in last month's shootings in Tucson. Siegal, 36, was the first woman to coach first base in men's professional baseball for the Brockton (Mass.) Rox, an independent league team, in 2009. She spent three years as the only female college baseball coach in the country, when she was an assistant coach at Springfield College (Mass.) from 2007-10. Siegal, who throws right-handed, is scheduled to throw batting practice in the Oakland Athletics camp later this week.
February 21, 201115 yr I know a few people here who are suddenly going to be Yankee fans. Steinbrenner said on Monday that he doesn't know what the final figure is, but expects the Yankees' 2010 payments for the two to total about $130 million. "We've got to do a little something about that, and I know Bud wants to correct it in some way," Steinbrenner said. "Obviously, we're very much allies with the Red Sox and the Mets, the Dodgers, the Cubs, whoever in that area." "At some point, if you don't want to worry about teams in minor markets, don't put teams in minor markets, or don't leave teams in minor markets if they're truly minor," Steinbrenner said. "Socialism, communism, whatever you want to call it, is never the answer."
February 23, 201115 yr LOWEST CAREER SLG., HITTERS MAKING $13M+/YEAR .430 Ichiro Suzuki $18M/yr. .444 Carl Crawford $20.3M/yr. .448 Michael Young $16M/yr. .453 Jose Bautista $13M/yr. .462 Adrian Beltre $16M/yr. .471 Torii Hunter $18M/yr. Numbers I just thought were interesting.
February 23, 201115 yr I just cant blame Pujols at all for asking for 30 mill a year when Hunter and Crawford make 18 and 20 respectively.
February 23, 201115 yr QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 08:07 AM) I just cant blame Pujols at all for asking for 30 mill a year when Hunter and Crawford make 18 and 20 respectively. Don't forget Jason Bay. My goodness that was a brutal signing. EVERYBODY knew it.
February 24, 201115 yr Heyman tweeted how Freddy has a leg up for the NYY 4th starter and 5th is up in the air... I've known all off-season how thin their rotation is, but seeing it type like that really brought it as a reality, and to top that off you have the erratic Barnett holding down the 3rd spot.

April 6, 201114 yr QUOTE (TomPickle @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 01:34 AM) Royals signed Jeff Francis to a 1 year $2 million contract. He seems like the type of guy that's going to dominate the Sox for no reason. Yeah.
