Rick White optioned to AAA

Another good move made my sox mgmt, as after the game White is sent to AAA to make room for Wright, so says ESPN.

EXCELLENT

i wonder how he like them apples.

White will probably not accept the demotion. He'll become a free agent. Of course, this is just a guess on my part.

Exactly what I was thinking, but who cares? :headbang

he could refuse but he will be suspended.

i think.

If he refused assignment, he gets released (a la Josh Paul).

No. A player with as much ML service time as White has the option of accepting or not. If he chooses not to go to AAA, he's a free agent.

but isn't it the team that will do the releasing?

Whatever it takes, we dont need his antics, nor his bad pitching right now..this team is playing too well

I'm not sure of the exact rules behind the moves, but I do know that if a player is out of options (such as Rick White) and is designated for assignment by the Major League team, he has the option to refuse and file for free agency. I don't know if the team can withdraw their designation or not, but essentially White's options are to go to Charlotte or end up on the F/A wire.

Without Rick White, JM should have an easier time of figuring out how to use the bullpen. :D

I would love if he goes to KC and we crush his ass...That filho da puta.

maybe matt ginter will finally get his chance

he pitched well for charlotte this year and has a much better arm than White

He'll probably go there in hopes of coming back and getting on the playoff roster, if we continue playing well.

Now I read where the Sox don't expect him to accept reassignment. Daily Southtown, I believe. His agent is probably talking to the Cards.

yeah, but I bet his mother could pitch better than he can!  :cheers

if and when he is released, i bet the dirt will be served on the platter.

i can't wait to see what he has to say.

Who gets added to the 40 man after White bails? Cotts or Reed?

No...........

Cotts will only be added if they need him to pitch in the Big Leagues this year. Reed will not be added.

Yeah, i bet that only his mother thinks that he is a great pitcher...

I really want to see Ginter pitch a good amount in the next few weeks so we can see what we have and know if we'll be able to use him in close/late situations and in the playoffs.

white, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Last thing we need right now is any b****ing in a clubhouse that seems to have good chemistry (winning will usually do that)
