Some people really disliked Beckham's mechanics before he was with the Sox because of his large leg kick/timing mechanism, which potentially could make it hard for him to catch up to heat.

Walker should be fired by Colon 8 inning 1 run performance alone!

And then his great contact rate in the minors and good rookie year made scouts feel like he could get away with it. His swing now is the football drill equivalent of throwing a football from your knees. I'm a big leg kick fan though, to be honest.
