The Yankees claimed pitcher Jeff Marquez off waivers from the White Sox, MLBTR has learned. The 26-year-old righty had been designated for assignment by Chicago on Sunday.

Marquez was drafted 41st overall by the Yankees in 2004 and was later traded to the White Sox as part of the Nick Swisher deal in November of 2008.

Watch him go there and dominate ;>

He never threw a pitch in anger this year for the Sox, called up and sat. What a waste

Just got a text from Jeff Marquez, saying he thanks all the Knights and White Sox fans for their support!

Too many to choose from.

It's the end of the Jeff Marquez era, claimed off waivers by Yankees. Hidden in this tweet you will find all my memories.

When Kenny Williams is hot,he's hot.

I'm much more of a backer of Williams than Guillen (I think they both should go at this point), but those Swisher deals were just the worst. I mean, they were just terrible.

The Knights pitching staff will be severely short handed now, with Harrell up and Marquez gone. That's two of their five starters.

The Yankees may see the benefit of his development with the White Sox, he's pitched better this year than the previous two years.

The last 2 years he's been hurt.

So, what are the Vegas odds on KW getting Marquez back in his next trade w/ the Yankees?

I know, but now he's healthy and pitching well and the White Sox lose him.

If Marquez was being sent to AAA, all he'd have to do is walk across the field.

That's what I thought. He looked pretty good in ST and almost made the team. I was hoping we might actually see some of that talent people used to rave about. Figures.

Don't forget we also got Wilson Betemit from the Yankees in that trade.

At least as of now, if you count the fact that we got 4 years of Jim Thome as well...Gavin Floyd + Jim Thome has almost certainly massively outtotaled the people we gave up in WAR.

And really...the only guy who is going to change that calculus is Gio.

I would agree that Gio Gonzales woud look good in our rotation. Jim Thome would still be welcome here too I think. I see Jimbo is on the DL or at least working through some medical problem
