Did this some months ago, doing it again now. Want to get one more pre-caucus and primary season read on people's thinking in here, and maybe spark some discussion as to WHY YOU LIKE THE CANDIDATE.

This is not the thread for posting news stories or embarrasing moments on tape. It is about who you think is best, and why.

I'll probably do another one after IA and NH.

i'll hold my nose and do Obama. I really don't like the guy and think he's been pretty not great thus far - but his healthcare plan has saved my ass, and his student loan programs as well, and I'm for gay rights... so that crosses everyone else off the list besides Huntsman. Of the GOP he's the one guy I could actually be ok with.

Can I vote Hillary instead?

Other. I don't want to vote for any of these people. I'll look at third party candidates.

Newt all the way. I think he's the only capable GOP candidate that can bridge the gap between crazy fringe GOP'ers and liberals to get into a more 1990's era Washington, which yeah, had it's problems, but not anything like we have now in terms of functioning government.

Obama has taken some concrete steps to help the middle class. Affordable Care Act being one, Lily Ledbetter being another. Also, repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell is pretty good and he shepherded through CFRB even if they can't get a head of the agency confirmed in the Senate. He saved the auto industry in the US, took steps to end our occupation of Iraq and did more to disable Al Qaeda than we've seen in a very long time.

His list of accomplishments are overshadowed by a partisan system that is clearly broken. The fact that he's been able to do more than one or two of these things is a testament to a stronger leader than anyone gives him credit for.

Other. I am writing in Mitch Daniels in both the primary and general election. First, as a message to the other GOP candidates that they suck, and secondly as a message to Mitch that I really want him to run in 2016.

I'm not convinced he doesn't end up as a VP candidate. I'm not sure what else he could be looking at with both Senate seats filled for four years.

who picked Rick Perry? and how can you do that after his latest ad? just curious...

I'll be voting for a third party candidate or independent. Maybe someone from the Green Party or Socialist Party.

I don't know if Ralph Nader will run this time. I voted for him the last two times and would vote for him again. He is getting up there in age, so I doubt he runs.

Gotta be Tex.

And I predict a 0.0001% chance that this many people actually end up voting 3rd party.

Out of this bunch, Ron Paul is by far the most appealing. 2nd would be Newt, after that would be Mitt, and then I would vote for a Libertarian.

i mean that's what i figured, but i'm curious where he stands on the new ad... hard to defend.

What leads you to believe that Newt is interested in building any bipartisan bridges? His whole career has been about scorched-earth politics.

Since Obama was a choice, I selected him.

The ad is consistent with his record and reflects a POV that sadly, too many Americans share. But I will never find a candidate that I agree 100% with. I'm more worried about immigrants with no political voice than the gay community that will kick his ass and any anti-gay legistlation will die because Congress will never support it. I still find Perry the least of the evils.

Hell, I don't support the entire DEM platform and I know most of the REPs here do not support that party's platform 100%.

Honestly, SPUSA has a better candidate this year with Stewart Alexander than 2008 with Brian Moore; but I'm not sure I'm willing to vote for him. I'll probably go Obama and hate it but I'm definitely an "undecided" voter right now.

  • 2 weeks later...

Obama

Both Newt and Mitt scare me.

This Iowan supports Ron Paul and will do so in the caucus on the 3rd.
