Why are you comparing him to any of those three?

If Caulfield was a superhero, his name would RandomNameDropMan

Well, they were all speedy/dynamic 2B prospects or "future starters" at one time or another.

I could have gone Ruddy Yan to be really obscure.

You failed to mention another thing all those players have in common. It's not racist, but comps of color/race are lazy.

I don't ever really remember hearing Shelby and Harris being considered future starters. They had high hopes on Richar, but was a complete bust.

Shelby was pretty highly considered early in his development. But he seriously stalled out.

Chris Getz is the only one that comes close as a comparison that I can think of...

You're right, in a way. When's the last time that someone like Steve Nash, Jeremy Lin or John Stockton was compared to black guards?

If you go back to the MLB draft website, 90% of the comparisons are with players of similar ethnic groups.

Look at Viciedo. How many white players have we been comparing him to in all the discussions of him since he was acquired after 2008? I can't think of many, can anyone?

I guess Brian Anderson was compared to Torii Hunter, but it was more the offensive numbers that KW projected for him...and perhaps the defensive side, but Anderson was nowhere as great as Hunter in his prime defensively (2000-2004) for the Twins.

I think it's worse in baseball personally, but baseball is also a more diverse sport than most others.

How many black people have you compared Viciedo to? The only people he's really been compared to have been Dominican...the primary one has been Vlad and I did Adrian Beltre.

Honestly, how many other white guys who have that hard of a swing, who swing at pretty much everything, are there? To me Vlad seems like the best comp because their styles are soooo similar.

Trumbo is white swings hard and has a pretty big strike zone. Hell Hosmer and Francouer both are white swing hard and don't care if it's a ball or not.

I could see Francouer, but the power comps aren't there. Trumbo might work too. I like Vlad because the swing is so violent, and so fast.

Trumbo also wasn't around when Viciedo was coming up and we were getting out first looks at him when those comps were made

Juan Uribe works, too.
