Slight setback with Beckham. Will miss next game, and maybe next 2 at Charlotte. Hand is sore.

Hahn now says Beckham out until Wednesday at least.

Does he have a brother named Reggie?

Bummer ready to see him return.

No, in that case there would be no setbacks and he still wouldn't play

Yeah, he would need to get his muscle memory back

CHICAGO – Chicago White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham will be a spectator for a few days after his rehabilitation assignment for a broken bone in his left hand was halted.

Beckham had just contacted general manager Rick Hahn before playing in Thursday night’s game with Triple-A Charlotte to discuss a possible return to the White Sox. After the game, Beckham was talking to Hahn about hand soreness.

The White Sox decided that a short break was warranted.

“He’s having some soreness in his hand, but it’s not at the sight of the incision,” Hahn said. “Instead, it’s probably just fairly regular soreness that we’ve decided to take a slightly conservative route with. Put some medicine to knock out the soreness and ramp him back up the middle of next week.”

Manager Robin Ventura said Beckham feels the discomfort only when he swings the bat. While Ventura categorized the turn of events as a slight setback, Hahn was careful with his wording.

“I don’t want to use the word setback simply because initially when you have this type of surgery, the general timeline is at least six weeks from the surgical date which is next Tuesday,” Hahn said. “There was some scuttlebutt that he could be back as soon as this weekend, but that would have been ahead of schedule. So we are still kind of on that original time frame. We are just not maintaining the ahead-of-schedule pace he was on.”

The decision to have Beckham miss five games was made by Hahn, trainer Herm Schneider and the doctor that performed Beckham’s surgery.

“It’s something that happens,” Hahn said. “It’s nothing to be alarmed about.”

Too bad, but it doesn't worry me at this point.

Then he would be hitting 450-foot homers during batting practice, but claiming he wasn't ready to face MLB pitching.

:notworthy:

I've been feeling discomfort when Gordon swings the bat for a couple years now. Hopefully this treatment clears that up.

Beckham on his hand, from postgame interview: "It feels good, it felt better. Had a good BP in terms of it not hurting as bad as it had."

In baseball news, Gordon Beckham returns to Minor League rehab and goes 3-for-5 with a double and a RBI. He should return to CWS next Friday
