Sources: #Dodgers in serious talks for #Marlins’ Nolasco. Would trade 3 prospects, none upper echelon. “Getting close,” one source says.

Those are the main candidates of teams that are currently looking for starting pitching and will be watching Jake Peavy closely when/if he comes back in the last two weeks of July. The Rockies have specifically been linked to Danks and Crain.

Dodgers

Rockies

Rangers

Giants

Padres

Orioles

After acquiring Feldman, the O's might be willing to give up a ton more to get a Matt Garza. The Blue Jays would be well-served to put Josh Johnson on the trading block, as well. Seems they are fading back again.

I was referring to their rotation's best ERA in baseball

And Garcia is out for the year, Shelby Miller is on pace to majorly surpass his previous high in innings, do you really trust Jake Westbrook to keep his ERA under 3? They have been the best rotation, but they do need help if they want win it all.

Its so like the Dodgers nowadays to trade for an overrated starter. At some point, the results mean more than his stuff does.

From the looks of it they are giving up absolutely nothing. Great move for the Dodgers. Record be damned, it must be exciting as hell to have a FO & ownership like that.

I'm happy to send them Peavy if they want to give us Kolten Wong or Matt Adams

Agreed, the sox need a good mix of near mlb ready talent and depth. Adams immediately becomes our first basemen and Wong pushes Beckham to SS while giving Sanchez another year down at AAA while still being very age appropriate.

Nolasco offically traded to the Dodgers.

Obviously everyone knows this already but that Miami franchise is a joke. I am all for selling off talent but they got a pile of crap in return. Dodgers picked up the salary, traded 3 less than mediocre prospects, and received international bonus money. What a joke of a franchise.

I read this weekend somewhere that the Orioles were interested in Garza but were not willing to meet the prospect cost. The Cubs asked for Infielder Jonathan Schoop and LHP Eduardo Rodriguez. Both have been on top 100 lists this year.

What do you think he would bring back? They save big money not having him around the second half, they weren't bringing him back, and he wasn't going to be offered anything so they could get a draft pick. It is exactly what the Sox would get back for most of the names mentioned to be headed elsewhere. I have no problem the White Sox picking up lottery tickets for the guys that won't be coming back, but for those who could, they better get something useful, not something that could be useful, or the only thing that is accomplished trading them is padding JR and Friends' bank accounts.

With the payroll that Miami has, they should have paid the rest of the salary in order to get better prospects. It's a joke.

I doubt they had that option. I think a GM would be risking his livelihood if he gave up a significant prospect for a couple of months of Nolasco.

Maybe you are right. That team should not be getting money back in deals though. I'd like to see the offers from San Francisco and the other teams involved.

I agree they are nasically going to be pocketing money they will necer spend, but it is what they have always done with the exception of last season. I would like the Sox to make a play for Logan Morrison. He seems like a douchbag, but I still think he can be a good hitter.

Wasn't Nick Swisher enough?

Rios for Travis Snider would be preferable. Doubt we can get Tabata, because they waited on Alvarez so long to develop and it finally paid off...so they might want to hold onto him.

Just realized a couple of things. Morrison has a 992 OPS, albeit in only 70 AB's. He's only 25, feels like he is older. Finally, he went to the same JC as Albert Pujols, Maple Woods in Kansas City.

How did the Royals let both of those guys get out of their own backyard?

You do realize that Ricky Nolasco sucks, right?

Um, it's the Royals. I'd be more surprised if they had found those two guys.

How does Rios for Snider make any sense for the Sox?... Unless of course you are considering Snider to be a throw in to any such deal, and not the centerpiece.

What would be their incentive to trade him...?

Maybe if it was Viciedo and something else....change of scenery trade.

I sure don't know what their incentive would be other than his going to arbitration next year and the fact they are stupid. Viciedo for LoMo would probably actually be a fair deal. Unfortunately, Dayan isn't a douchebag so I'm not sure how I feel about it.

How does Rios on the White Sox making $12.5 or $13.5 million make any sense in 2014 or 2015 if we're trading away Dunn, Ramirez, Peavy, etc.?

That pretty much wipes out all probability of competing for next year.

So Rios on the team simply makes them a 75 win team perhaps instead of 68-71 wins. Doesn't matter.

We need to get younger/cheaper and find as many hitters with the ability to put up an 800+ OPS as possible.
