I wasn't sure if there was a thread for this already, but if there is, I'm sure a mod will bring swift justice.

I'm going to Houston next weekend. Has anyone been there before? If so, what recommendations do you have?

There was, but it's not on the first page anymore, so whatever.

I've been to Houston, but it was 17 years ago. Johnson Space Center was pretty cool. Not sure if you can still go in the Astrodome, but that is a pretty impressive place.

There's a bunch...you'll be able to find what speaks to you in particular just by walking around.

I liked Cyclone Anaya's.

Johnson Space Center is well worth the trip. If you go that way, take the extra half hour drive and spend a day on Galveston Island.

Thanks, I forgot all about the Space Center. What's on Galveston Island?

Great seafood, great beaches. Just great country down there. Lots of stuff to do.

Im going to NY on Saturday for some family stuff(not the most exciting trip but I'll make the best of it) and am flying Spirit. I've heard some horror stories about Spirit, anyone ever used them before? Anything I should know ahead of time?

Pack lightly and small, since most will carry on to avoid fees the overhead compartments fill up quickly (they will charge you to check if they run out of space). And be prepared for delays/cancellations. All this has happened to my roommate flying them.

I'm going to IU and UM this weekend on some campus chapter visits, first time in that area of Indiana and going back to Ann Arbor for the 2nd time since I moved 5 years ago, should be fun/exhausting.

Spirit is an absolutely miserable airlines. But they shouldn't charge you if it's them who run out of room. At least they didn't to me.

"Shouldn't" is the key word.

Isn't Spirit basically the RyanAir of the US? You can't beat the price but expect to get charged for any possible luxury.

Spend the extra $20 and fly EasyJet/Southwest if you can.

Ya I've always paid more just to be more comfortable but my dad basically forced me on this trip and paid for it so I had no choice.

Our next two trips are Big Bend back-country over New Years and Minnesota, Northern Wisconsin, Michigan UP this summer. The past few summers have been Maine and the Rockies from Texas to Montana.
