Getting the oil changed in your vehicle regularly will extend its life.

High viscosity fluids are definitely bad for moving parts.

I am a little concerned about Ford's maintenance schedule for my truck. The computer monitors the driving conditions and lets me know when to perform an oil change. It could be as many as 10,000 miles, but 7,500 is considered normal.

Just remember...the oil company has a vested interest in getting you to change the oil more often. Ford doesn't exactly have a great interest in having your car break down rapidly.
