Wow. Raanta for effectively nothing. Very nice.

Hearing Kesler to Anaheim is done. Awaiting details

#Canucks were asking for a lot for Kesler but sounds like they may end up with Bonino, Sbisa and a first. #NHL #Ducks

If the cap truly is $68 million as reports would indicate, the Hawks will be adding no one, and losing someone.

A $68 million cap would have the Hawks already over it. Think more than Oduya moves tonight.

Crawford moving would make it all better.

No cap room from the sounds of it.

Now I'm starting to think that Sharp really is as good as gone

Ben Smith and Antti Raanta back in the fold. Both sign 2 year deals. We'll get numbers at some point today, I'd bet.

Very nice.

I'm guessing if they are cap locked at replacing Sharp, they won't trade him. If they could have dealt him and replaced him with a Kessler, they would have done it.

Concerning Ryan Kesler, Blackhawks were interested but the impact on the cap was a concern, specially for the 15-1f season.

LRT : Hawks concern w 2015-16 cap points to Spezza, who will be a UFA. That is if they even can afford to make a deal.

Jeremy Morin deal with Blackhawks: $800,000 AAV per year

Something's definitely happening tonight. Salary is going to be moved. Anyone want Bickell, please?

Draft is always more interesting for the trades than it is the for the draft selections.

You knew Kesler to Anaheim was happening.

There has been no clear statement on that.

NHL & NHLPA announce 2014-15 cap range: $69M maximum, $51M minimum.

  • Author

@MarkLazerus With 21 players on roster @capgeek has Blackhawks payroll at $69,479,295. So $69M cap is trouble for Chicago.

what a joke.

Kane and Toews and their salary demands are gonna determine this franchise's future. If they ask for the moon, we simply won't be able to surround them with enough talent.

Raanta on his extension and pay cut:

“Money is not the biggest thing right now. I’m just 25 years old. There’s still hopefully plenty of years left in my career, so I can make some money later on. You can always go to Europe or Russia and they can maybe give you a little more money, but hey, then you don’t get a chance to play on one of the best teams and organizations in the NHL.That’s the big thing. The Blackhawks were No. 1 all the time in my eyes."

This is just awesome.
