Ebola Virus

Featured Replies

So, I get that the sensationalized media coverage is going over the top in an attempt to get readers to "fear read," and I get that we go through this sort of news cycle every year or so with some disease/virus that's going to cause a massive pandemic, but can someone explain why on Earth we're voluntarily bringing the Ebola virus to the United States? We're sending/have sent an incredibly advanced and expensive plane to pick up 2 people with the virus in order to bring them back here to treat/test them? Why not take them to some secluded place outside of the US that's not in the Atlanta area full of millions of people?

Because how else are we going to try and bring "The Walking Dead" to fruition?

CDC is a very secure facility, plus this is not an airborne virus. It's not like you're going to catch ebola if you are out working in your yard somewhere between the airport and the CDC and the guy sneezes while going by in the car.

It does seem strange to treat them here. How does this virus mainly spread? How are so many people getting the virus in Africa? You'd think if it takes over Africa eventually it'll spread everywhere, but maybe ptatc or somebody knows more about this.

through bodily fluids. It is not airborne

Right on. Who doesn't want a zombie apocalypse?

I just hope some mujas aren't infecting those children swarming our border. All it would take is the gathering of samples from some Ebola corpses.

Or you could use a woman to carry out a suicide mission. Infect her and then have her go hook up with drunk people in Dubai before they fly home all over the world.

Does anybody know how protected the corpses are? Insta-burn would be a nice greater-good policy.

You know what the best protection these corpses have is?

They f***ing died of ebola.

You go grab it.

Haha no thanks, I don't want to weaponize Ebola. But I suppose somebody that did could put on some gloves. Or send somebody else in there with some gloves. s*** man, even that guy could send somebody in there with gloves. But then I guess that guy could send somebody in there without gloves and then shoot that guy in the face and say, "thanks for filling the little viles with Ebola blood, sealing them properly, and sanitizing the outside so I can safely transport these around the world." I think that guy should extend the courtesy of thanks before shooting him in the face, because after all, that was some gross work he did and while a handshake would be nice, lets be serious here.

Perhaps because the CDC is one of the world's greatest medical facilities equipped to handle severe cases and the knowledge they can acquire from working directly with a patient may save thousands of lives down the road? Ebola samples have routinely been brought to that facility, the biggest difference here is they are inside a living person.
