September 15, 201411 yr http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/946...fends-belisario • White Sox manager Robin Ventura said the starting rotation will not be rearranged to get Chris Sale one extra start as an attempt to boost his 2014 AL Cy Young candidacy. "I don't think that last start's going to be the deciding factor," said Ventura of Sale, who leads the AL with his 1.99 ERA. "If it is, his body of work over the course of the year is what it is. "But I don't see us moving him to a point where we're rushing him just to pitch for that Cy Young thing. He's had a great year and we moved some pieces around that he get an extra day here and there, but we're not going to throw him on short rest just to be able to do that."
September 15, 201411 yr The follow up question should have been: Will he start on the 17th, 22nd or 23rd, and the 28th? He doesn't have to pitch on short rest to get 3 more starts.

He doesn't have to pitch on short rest to get 3 more starts. Eh, no reason to push him. He did well to come back from the muscle strain and put up a Cy Young caliber season. Let him make a couple more starts and give the other one to bassitt or hell even Noesi or something.

Let him make a couple more starts and give the other one to bassitt or hell even Noesi or something. If Carroll has a broken fingernail or whatever, they should just finish it out with Danks, Bassitt, Sale, Quintana, and Noesi. I really don't care if Sale makes two or three starts, but my point is if they want to give Sale three starts, they can without pitching him on short rest. It didn't seem like Ventura was even aware of that.

September 15, 201411 yr 1 extra start won't matter at this point. Most of the voters already have their minds made up a while ago, and unless Felix bombs in his next 2 starts, their votes will not change. I think it's safe to say that if their ERA differential is less than 0.40, Felix will be your 2014 AL Cy Young winner
September 15, 201411 yr they should give him at leas tone more home start. at least move a few more k zone shirts.
September 16, 201411 yr Author QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) If Carroll has a broken fingernail or whatever, they should just finish it out with Danks, Bassitt, Sale, Quintana, and Noesi. It didn't seem like Ventura was even aware of that. They are working with six starters, so yes they are aware that he could go an extra time. The reality is that the last guy on this staff they need to evaluate is Chris Sale, so it is more important to see the others.

September 21, 201411 yr So not only do loyal fans with Fan Appreciation Day tickets not get the Konerko ceremony, they also don't get a Sale start. Yeesh.
September 21, 201411 yr ?????? Was someone actually considering putting MORE mileage on Sale to improve chances at an award at which he has zero chance to win? This organization is in la la land. We're still in it!!!

September 21, 201411 yr Not that 2nd matters, but Felix should win unanimously, and Kluber deserves every 2nd place vote.
