Johnson started the 6th by walking a guy on 4 pitches. The next guy reached on an error by Black. Let's see if he can pitch out of a jam.

...ugh, another walk. Bases loaded, nobody out.

single, a run scored.

Lakso said Black's error should have been a double play. Not excusing Johnson for a bad inning, but it's a factor.

Well, one of the runs has to be unearned, so the ERA they're now showing needs an adjustment.

And as I write, adjustment made. Not a bad outing overall, still. Confidence may be an issue, and that could be problematic.

His pitch count was very low. You can only protect him so much.

Davidson 3-run homer! Have a day!

Edited by flavum

Barnum has vastly improved his K and BB rates this season. OTOH, he has sacrificed virtually all of his power in doing so.

Only moderately encouraging, if that.

its not the pitch count somethings. it has to be about building confidence and thru that winning games. 5 innings is good enuf, esp in the beginning of the season. stretch them out come may

His lack of power is astonishing

So is Courtney Hawkins injured? Two straight games he's been out. Also, 3 straight CS for Anderson.

Well, he HAS the power - saw it in ST. But, most likely, he's making some major compromises to get more contact.

I'll stop before I start making broad brush statements on our hitting development.

thanks for respecting the opinion factor. that was great.

EJ and Davidson rebounding would be massive for this team.

I thought every run after the error is unearned?

If it would have been out number 3 yes, otherwise no.

Not unless the error was on a play that would have resulted in the third out.

Thanks!

Danish through 3:

3 hits, 4 SO, 0 BB, 0 ER

Mitchell all the way down to .050. Has 2 hits on the year. Striking out nearly half the time. And reports of less than stellar attitude.

Let's start an over/under on the date he's released. I'll start with May 15.
