May 11, 201510 yr Mike Recchia @Recchia1 · 7m 7 minutes ago I have officially retired from the game of baseball. One last night with my buddies and back to Chicago tomorrow to start the new life... Wow. Thought this deserves its own thread. Good luck in future endeavors Mike.
May 11, 201510 yr NSS would certainly be disappointed. Didn't think his injury was career threatening, so this is a shocker.
May 11, 201510 yr Shame. Had nice numbers. Remember reading a piece he wrote for FutureSox detailing his determination to make it to the majors. Must be a really bad injury.
May 11, 201510 yr What? No! He was my sleeper! I really liked him and his background as a Chicago guy and I always root for the underdog. Surprising and disappointing, but good luck to him in his future endeavors. I thought he was the next Axelrod/Carroll.
May 11, 201510 yr http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/pro...?P=Mike-Recchia His stat card since Eastern Illinois. When you sign as a free agent, without any signing bonus...it's an incredibly difficult path financially.
May 11, 201510 yr Whoa. Good luck to the guy. If he approaches life with anywhere near the determination he did baseball, he will be very successful, both as a father, and in a career.
May 11, 201510 yr It's interesting to see, when some guys retired or get released, you don't really hear much about it. Recchia retires and there was a flood of players and front office people on twitter extolling his virtues. Says a lot about the guy. He was a good friend to our site over the years too. And he wrote this article for us. Best of luck to Mike!
