I believe that if the Sox are out of it at the deadline not only should they try to bring in some young talent into the system, but I believe that they should be hoping for the highest draft pick possible, that could do some serious wonders for the org.

 

Let me say that I think the team should be in the mix for the division in 2016, but with another high draft pick and what not they could open and prolong their window. Theo Epstein always said that if your team is out of it after the deadline, you might as well hope for the highest draft pick possible.

 

That's nice and all, but I would rather see the young assets the Sox already have (the Johnsons, Avi, Rodon, etc) and the vets they're stuck with (Melky, LaRoche, Duke) perform well in the latter half of the season.

 

This would go a long ways to convince me that they aren't broken/were never good.

They aren't going to get much for Alexi Ramirez.

The minor league system is still bad.

 

They do have a nice 3 man lefty rotation next season with Sale, Quintana and Rodon, an all-star 1B in Abreu, but that's about it.

the biggest let down which in my opinion has done more harm is Eaton, LaRoche and Flowers.

 

the fiasco at 2b could have been absorb if everybody else was hitting. even conor batting at what he has hasn't help.

Eaton should bounce back, he has already been better in May/June. He might just be an inconsistent player.

My point is that trading bad players does not bring a good return. Nothing gained from a salary dump of Alexei or trading a marginal player like Gillaspie is going to contribute much going forward.

If they fall out of contention and trade away some of the veterans, you won't have to root for them to lose. Their roster would be so weak, the losses would pile up. Don't forget Rodon will likely not pitch the last month or so as well, which means it's possible to have 3/5 of your rotation be something like Danks, Beck and Johnson/Carroll if Samardzija gets traded.

Eaton got off to a bad start but since then he had been playing pretty well, don't let his current batting average full you.

 

LaRoche is having a good year too, he's good with the glove (one of the few guys you can depend on in that department), he is more that willing to go deep into counts and he takes his walks. I expect him to heat up add the season goes on. I thought that was a good signing and I still feel that.

 

And don't people understand that across the league there are few quality catchers, catcher has become the most scarce position in the game across all levels. While Flowers is not one of the better players on the team and the Sox want to improve at the position, there are 25 other teams saying the same thing

let me also add, which i failed to mention, add all those to a kettle called the white sox and chi fans get what they got. frustration and ready to sell the farm for help.

not to mention for those who thinks alot of this, this poor excuse of a team esp in the beginning, is RV fault.

 

to the owners group of the white sox. go to the stadium and gander up to the rafters..... that is the results of a championship team winning 3 times in 6 yrs.
