Rockies Trade Dickerson to Rays

Not much given up for Dickerson. Wish that would have been the Sox getting him.

Nice value trade for Rays. The kind of trade the Sox should have been making the last 3 years.

For the rockies, what in the actual f*** are they thinking? Seriously? As others have pointed out in this thread, could have just signed a RP and kept the better OF in dickerson.

For the Rays, sure, nice move, I suppose.

For the White Sox, why did they not get in this? I'm sure they could of came up with something better.

Oh well.

Sure seems like Jennings will be dealt

I'll be surprised if Jennings isnt moved. Same with Loney although the Rays will probably have to eat some of that $8M.

Possibly trying to free up some money to make a run at Ian Desmond?

You can see the White Sox adding Desmond Jennings because he has just one year left before free agency (if not, it's only two, but pretty sure on that) and he wouldn't cost as much in trade as it's something of a salary dump.

That potentially is a more attractive option than Austin Jackson or overpaying for Fowler.

Assuming he's healthy, though...hard to know without seeing his physical.

FWIW, IAN Desmond currently ranked as the #12 SS in the majors. No Marcus Semien in Top 15.

I'd much rather pay Fowler than trade for Jennings. I can only hope the Sox aren't interested in Jennings.

He was better than Fowler prior to last years injuries

Not trying to be a wise-ass but can you be specific as to how he was better? I really don't see it, aside from Jennings be the better defensive outfielder.

Just going off fWAR

If we're going to buy low, it's better to go after Jackson/Jennings or Desmond.

That's IF IF IF you have the financial flexibility to make two moves.

OK. I was looking at the usual suspects like OBP, OPS etc.

Jennings has been a very consistent low 3's performer until last year, almost exactly like IAN Desmond but closer to 3-3.1 than 3.5-3.6.

The Two Desmonds, or Desmond Squared. Can't remember how to get the computer to make that "squared" symbol.

Back to the trade. I wonder if the Rockies might be thinking of using McGee as a closer to build his value and flip him at the deadline. McGee would become quite valuable as a cheap closer with 1.5 years of team control left by the time late July rolls around. Just a thought.
