August 4 was an impactful day in Sox history to be sure for a few different reasons and we've got the audio AND video to prove it.

Start with August 4, 1985 in New York where Tom Seaver picked up his 300th career win beating the Yankees 4-1 before a packed house. We've got the final out of his gem. Announcer: Lorn Brown. Courtesy: WMAQ Radio.

Then we go to August 4, 1993 for some audio and video... a hot night in Texas when Robin Ventura snapped after getting drilled by a Nolan Ryan pitch. Ryan had been throwing at Sox hitters for years but things started to get ugly in 1990. Robin finally said enough. Announcers: Ken "Hawk" Harrelson. Courtesy: SportsChannel-Chicago.

A rare item. August 7, 1974 - Comiskey Park was the site for one of the most exciting games of the early 1970’s and it involved Nolan Ryan. The flamethrower took a no-hitter into the ninth inning against the Sox and led 1-0 thanks to a Frank Robinson home run. After getting the first out in the inning however it all fell apart for him.

Dick Allen beat out an infield hit spoiling the no-hitter and Carlos May reached on an error. Ken Henderson ripped a single to center to tie the game and then with two out, Billy Sharp singled to right to win it. The Sox beat the Angels 2-1 getting all three of their hits in the final inning.

I actually have the entire last of the 9th inning TV broadcast which considering the age looks very good and condensed down part of it for the audio for this clip. It can be found about halfway down here:

I believe this is the true story of what happened on that fateful night in 1993...

August 11, 1991 - In only his second major league start, the Sox Wilson Alvarez tossed a no-hitter against the Orioles in Baltimore. Alvarez was handed a big lead early on and made the most of it, shutting down the Birds. Lance “One Dog” Johnson made a saving catch in right center field late in the game as Alvarez had his greatest moment in winning 7-0.

We've got a pair of audio cuts from this game which can be found here towards the end of the items listed. (It was a busy day in Sox history! LOL). The first is Johnson's catch to save the no-hitter and the second is the final out in it. Announcer: Wayne Hagin. Courtesy: WMAQ Radio.

We go back to August 23, 1972. The Sox are hosting the Yankees and Dick Allen did something no other Sox player ever did at that time...he hit one into the center field bleacher seats off Lindy McDaniel in the Sox 5-2 win. I was sitting in the area because Harry Caray was broadcasting from those seats. A young Richard Roeper was also there that afternoon. The only other Sox player to do this in the original Comiskey Park by the way was Richie Zisk in 1977. You can hear the call of the shot at this link: http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2016/08/t...ulie-hits-2000/

Now for the latest entry...we go to September 9, 1983. The Sox do something they had never done before...they hit back to back to back home runs courtesy of Carlton Fisk, Tom Paciorek and Greg Luzinski. 1983 was a very, VERY good year! Announcers are Joe McConnell and Ken "Hawk" Harrelson. Courtesy: SportsVision.

Thank you Lip for all your hard work posting these historic audio and video moments in White Sox history. It's much appreciated.

No problem. I'm glad you enjoy them. Was just hoping for more feedback from fans on game rememberences and things like that.

Just got back late Saturday night from a road game broadcast at Oregon State so I apologize that these are a touch late. (And thanks to Dan Shapiro for his help!)

Mid-September was a important time in White Sox history and we've got a number of audio AND video highlights for you to enjoy.

We start with September 15, 1983 as the White Sox are closing in on winning the Western Division title. They'd set the team record for the most runs scored in the 6th inning of a game as they got 11 in a 12-0 win over the Mariners that cut their 'magic number' to two. Harold Baines capped that inning off with a grand slam. Announcers are Ken "Hawk" Harrelson and Don Drysdale. Courtesy: WMAQ Radio.

http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2016/09/t...nes-grand-slam/

For September 16, it's now 2007. A bad season at least ends with an impressive accomplishment as Jim Thome blasted his 500th career home run. A game winner as the Sox came back to beat the Angels 9-7. We've got the audio AND video for this one. Ken "Hawk" Harrelson calls it. Courtesy: Comcast Sports Chicago.

http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2016/09/t...r-is-a-walkoff/

And then for September 17, we've got a couple clips for your listening pleasure. Thanks to a sacrifice fly from Harold Baines in the 9th inning the Sox took down Seattle 4-3 to win the Western Division and make the playoffs for the first time in 24 seasons. Quite a night...quite a season! It's Early Wynn and Lorn Brown calling it from Comiskey Park. Courtesy: WMAQ Radio.

In the locker room afterwards which was pure chaos, manager Tony LaRussa talked about the title with both Brown and Wynn. Courtesy: WMAQ Radio.

Both of those audio clips can be found here:

It's September 22, 1959 the Sox are in Cleveland and the 40 year wait is about to end. The Sox beat Cleveland 4-2 to win their first pennant since 1919. Al Smith and “Jungle” Jim Rivera hit back to back home runs in the game. Smith also threw out former Sox star “Minnie” Minoso trying to score a run.

A crowd estimated by the Chicago Sun-Times at 125,000 was at Midway Airport to greet the Sox when they returned home early that morning. All this on a night when Chicago fire commissioner Robert Quinn ordered the air raid sirens turned on to celebrate the title, causing fear and panic in a number of non-baseball fans who thought the Russians were attacking. It was some night.

We've got the back to back home runs from Smith and Rivera, the announcer is Bob Elson. Courtesy: WCFL Radio.

It's September 27, 1993 and in front of a capacity crowd at the new Comiskey Park, the Sox won the Western Division by beating Seattle 4-2.

It was “Bo” Jackson who clubbed a towering three run blast that just dropped over the wall in left that was the difference in the game. The homer capped off an incredible comeback season for one of the finest natural athletes in history.

Also in this game Sox starting pitcher Wilson Alvarez saw his streak of 30 consecutive shutout innings snapped when Seattle got to him for two runs in the eighth inning. The Sox went 94-68 and took the title by eight games over Texas.

Here is the call of Jackson's blast about halfway down the page:

A number of items for September 29th.

We start with September 29, 2005 as the Sox are closing in on wrapping up the Central Division title. They are in Detroit leading 4-2 as Bobby Jenks was getting ready to close it out. We've got the final out as called by Ken Harrelson and Darrin Jackson. Courtesy: Comcast Sports Chicago.

Then in the locker room Mark Buehrle talked with Chuck Garfien about finally shaking off Cleveland and getting it done.

Then we go to September 29, 2008, the Sox are hosting Detroit in a must win game to set up a one game playoff the next night with the Twins. Alexei Ramirez came up with the bases loaded against former Sox started Freddy Garcia and broke it wide open with a grand slam. We've got the audio AND video again it's Ken Harrelson and Darrin Jackson on the call. Courtesy: WGN-TV.

We move on to October 1, 1959. After 40 years the wait is over and the Sox are in the World Series. Game #1 turns out to be a rout as the Sox blasted the Dodgers 11-0 at Comiskey Park. It was Ted Kluszewski who had a monster day with two home runs and five RBI's in it. Klu would have 10 RBI's in the six game series, tying the record at the time. We've got his second home run of the game. You can listen to it right here:

October 5, 1983 - The White Sox are in the playoffs for the first time in 24 years and open the A.L.C.S. in Baltimore beating the Birds 2-1 behind the brilliant pitching from LaMarr Hoyt.

Hoyt went the distance on a five hitter and nearly had himself a shutout save for a soft bloop hit by Cal Ripken in the 9th inning. We've got the final out as Hoyt retired Eddie Murray to get the win. Announcer is Joe McConnell. Courtesy: WMAQ Radio.

It's October 6, 1959 the Sox are playing the Dodgers in a football stadium transformed to play baseball games in, the L.A. Coliseum. L.A. is a game away from winning the World Series and has Sandy Koufax on the mound.

But the Sox stayed alive winning 1-0 in Game #5. The game was saved by a spectacular catch from "Jungle" Jim Rivera in the 7th inning.

Rivera made an over the shoulder catch on a blast hit by Charlie Neal with two men on, looking into a murderous background of white shirts. It was one of the greatest catches in World Series history.

It's Mel Allen on the call, courtesy: NBC Radio Network.

These are just terrific, Lip. Thanks for making the effort to bring these clips to the forum. Always great to go back in time and hear the voices of Sox baseball from years gone by. I really enjoyed Joe McConnell myself, and so it's always nice to get a chance to hear his voice describing an exciting Sox moment from the past.

October 8, 1993 - With the Sox down two games to none in the A.L.C.S. Wilson Alvarez pitched a gem and beat the Blue Jays 6-1. The Sox scored five runs in the third inning which gave him some breathing room. The complete game victory was badly needed and gave Sox fans a reason to keep hoping.

A little out of order so I apologize. It is October 7, 2005, the Sox are in Boston and Orlando Hernandez throws perhaps the single most significant inning in Sox post season history as he gets out of a bases loaded, no out jam to help preserve the Sox lead. They'd win the game, sweep the Red Sox in the A.L.D.S. and move on to face the Angels. We've got the audio AND video. Chris berman is the announcer. Courtesy: ESPN2.

It's October 12, 2005 and one of the strangest, most bizarre ways to end a baseball is ready to take place. Yes...it's the A.J. "dropped third strike" game. We've got the audio AND the video of that surreal moment.

Given the circumstances some good news is needed so here you go!

October 22, 2005 - 46 years after their last World Series, the White Sox finally got back to another one. Game #1 against Houston was played with the Sox winning 5-3 at U.S. Cellular Field. Jermaine Dye and Joe Crede hit home runs. Jose Contreras pitched seven innings and the bullpen tandem of Neal Cotts and Bobby Jenks saved the game.
