June 12, 20169 yr Author Well that was quite the boring first half. Northern Ireland playing for the scoreless tie. Hopefully Poland can find an accurate cross or Lewandowski can make a star play.
June 12, 20169 yr Author Wooo, three points for Poland. Takes the pressure off getting a result against Germany
June 12, 20169 yr QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 03:04 PM) What is with FOX and ESPN feeling the need to given a token analyst spot to former US women players? Both the girl on FOX and Wambach have been terrible and useless. Wait, Wambach when describing Bale's first have goal said she was happy and proud of him. Dynamite drop in Abby, that broadcasting school is really starting to pay off.... I can't argue with that, but the other side is that Julie Foudy is fantastic. She's been doing it for years though.

June 15, 20169 yr France score 2 late goals to advance to the knockout stages. Payet scored in garbage time, but that's now 2 goals for him.
June 16, 20169 yr England pulls off a very un-England win. Sucks for Wales. The English media would have absolutely lost their s*** had they tied or lost to Wales. Edited June 16, 20169 yr by chw42

June 16, 20169 yr Author All that hype and anticipation ends in a 0-0 tie. Now I remember why us Americans hate soccer, ha. At least Poland is in great shape to advance.
June 16, 20169 yr Poland did well to get a draw. They might not win the group, but they'll at least advance to the round of 16.
June 16, 20169 yr Poland had two chances to score, like easy goals and blew it. You are not going to win a championship just turtling the whole time. Edited June 16, 20169 yr by pettie4sox

You are not going to win a championship just turtling the whole time. Millik missed a few of those in the first game too (although he did score). With defenses focusing on Lewandowski, it's gonna be Millik to finish those.
June 18, 20169 yr Author There's the title contender Belgium squad, Lukaku is awesome. Poor Ireland in the Group of Death
June 21, 20169 yr Author France, Spain, Germany, Italy, and England all on the same side of the knockout bracket. Not gonna get a better chance than this Poland!
June 21, 20169 yr Croatia looks like the best team in the tournament. Even in their tie they completely dominated that game and lost because of their protesting idiot fans. Surprised by them, but looking at their roster the amount of big clubs their players play may rival that of an England, Italy, etc. Surprising for an Eastern Europe team.

Not sure how serious of an injury Modric has, but I don't think they'll get farther than the quarters without him. With Modric they have an elite midfield and their attack is decent with Perisic and Mandzukic. Very balanced team. Spain probably should have won or drew against them. They had a golden chance to go up with a penalty and missed it. Edited June 21, 20169 yr by chw42
June 21, 20169 yr They had a good shot at a fairly open goal the very last 30 seconds as well. Spain just doesn't have enough offensive playmakers/finishers anymore, compared with 6 years ago. Edited June 21, 20169 yr by caulfield12

Spain just doesn't have enough offensive playmakers/finishers anymore, compared with 6 years ago. Morata's a pretty damn good striker and Nolito is a good supporting winger. They might not have a prime Villa or Fernando Torres, but they're solid up front. Plus Silva, Busquets, and Iniesta are still some of the best midfielders in the world.
