  1. Luis Robert - Nuff said. Hahn's last gasp as GM actually replenished the farm nicely. There are some very interesting guys added to a few hopeful future stars (Montgomery, Schultz). And let's pause a moment to appreciate the fleecing of the Angels...although that seems more like the Angels making a pretty bad trade. Jesse Scholtens, Gregory "Sleepy" Santos Lenyn Sosa has looked really good since coming back up. 2B should be his to lose next season.
  2. My thoughts, too. There will most likely be significant changes (selling, moving, etc.) over the next 5-10 years. Getz could merely be a placeholder to get the Sox to when they are sold. And unless he gets in there and does an amazing job, a new owner would probably make changes.
  3. The majority of White Sox fans don't know or care about the front office. We're on a board with a bunch of folks who know a lot about the Sox, and baseball in general, and are opinionated. While we're pulling out our hair asking why the Sox would promote Chris Getz, most fans will be like, "Didn't he used to play for the Sox?" If 50% of us say we won't support this team anymore (I'm not one of them), and 50% of that 50% actually do stop supporting them team and don't go to another game until JR sells or kicks off, it's not really going to make a difference. The product on the field, outside of major price hikes or drops, will determine how many people show up to the games. The product on the field right now stinks. And that's not just because there's a lack of talent; there's a lack of will, of trying. 2024, no matter who is in the front office, needs to be a clean slate. Build a good team around Robert. Jettison the dead weight. Promote a culture of accountability. If Getz is the guy making the decisions or someone else, I don't care as long as 2023 never fucking happens again.
  4. If JR still owns the team and continuously hides the checkbook in the folds of his belly fat, does it really matter who the president is, or the GM? If it's Getz, and it sounds like it is, we'll just have to wait and see what he does (or is allowed to do). Sure, he's not qualified to lead a real team. But a puppet's only qualification is allowing someone else to stick their hand up their ass and make them talk and wave their arms around.
  5. Right, but this is the White Sox we're talking about.
  6. A competent president of baseball ops with Getz as the GM wouldn't be a terrible mix. I don't know anything about Moore, but based on what I've read on this board, I'm glad to hear he will probably not be involved.
  7. I think NIghtengale reads Soxtalk. He's now tweeting (X-ing?) that Rizzo is staying put in Washington.
  8. The timing of the KW/Hahn firings along with the holdup with Rizzo's extension could lead us hopeful folks to believe that he is being considered for the job, and the Sox wanted to get the ball rolling by shitcanning the current FO now. By hopeful folks, I mean everyone...except Bob Nightengale. And, yes, I know I'm grasping at straws. Very small, coffee stirrer straws.
  9. More than anything, I just want to see someone else be hired and make Boob look like a dumbass.
  10. I can't imagine keeping Yaz and optioning Lee when Seby comes back. Who cares if it's Seby and Lee the rest of the way? Of course, they could have a mule in the front office right now just stomping it's hoof to make decisions. "Okay, should we bring Lee up? Once for yes, twice for no." *One stomp* "Alright. Send down Perez, one stomp. DFA Yaz, two stomps." *One stomp* "Are you sure?" *Blank stare* "I mean, is there a reason to keep Yaz? He's -" *Stomps wildly while hee-hawing loudly* "Okay! Okay!"
  11. Yeah, please. I understand Getz being the top internal candidate because, who else? It is refreshing to see someone other than Boob saying something. Probably no more than speculation/guessing from Morosi, but at least it's something.
  12. Waiting for a national reporter to say something about the head of baseball ops search beginning for the Sox. No one else has said a word except Bruce Levine saying Getz would remain in his role. But that was yesterday...and it's Bruce Levine who can't even be bothered to type the "ite" in White Sox in his posts.
  13. https://x.com/ryanmcguffey/status/1694362900830224570?s=46&t=CmXau5C6XZLEE5q5OJlG4A Take this FWIW
  14. The way JR uses Boob, this could be a "leak" to test the response. I doubt it, but I'm clinging to hope that this is bad information.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised if the team is sold, but within the next 2-4 years seems like a more likely timeline. You have to figure there are always buyers sniffing around multiple MLB teams. If JR is truly thinking about selling, someone may come along with a stupid offer and speed up the process.
  16. If they do the Getz/Moore hirings, it'll be a big disappointment. But, no matter who they put in the role(s), moving on from TA and Moncada and maybe even Jimenez will be a nice step forward. The right decisions in the off season could make this team look drastically different and hopefully much better. Regardless, 2024 looks like a let the kids play season.
  17. I'm going to hold onto a slim hope that this is just Bob being Bob. If we don't hear anything official regarding Getz or Moore in the next couple of weeks, it might be a better sign. It just seems like they would have announced the promotion of Getz along with the canning of KW and Hahn.
  18. New GM's first order of business - Sign Ohtani.
  19. I was dozing in my recliner with the news on in the background. I had a "procedure" earlier that day (I just turned 50...), and I was taking it easy. I awoke from my doze with a text from my son telling me the news. I was wide awake at that point and immediately jumped online.
  20. I think we'll get a pretty clear picture of the future of the team with the hire of the "one decision maker." If JR hires someone with experience who, if given free reign, could turn the franchise around, it could be an indication of JR wanting one last push before he sells...or hoping to increase the value of the team for a sale. If he hires internally, that could be an indication of nothing changing, and JR could be taking the team to his grave. I just think all of the noise over the past few days regarding the end of the lease, potential move, and potential sale of the team is more than just noise. The right hire could make this team look much more enticing to potential buyers.
  21. If the Sox are planning on having someone hired by the end of the season, does that necessarily mean it'll be someone not currently working for another club? I'm not sure how that works. Can an assistant GM (or other front office role) be hired away from another team during the season? On a side note, if they're serious about having someone in place by the end of September, it seems like they already know who they are targeting and may already have a lot of the leg work done.
  22. I think the assertions that Grifol is safe is because he still has a job right now. The new GM may want their own staff.
  23. I thought I remembered hearing Theo Epstein wanted to eventually be part of an ownership group, hire him as lord of baseball operations. Then he can buy the team in a few years.
