The Sox are really trying to convince us that there aren't at least marginally better players than Capra and Noda in AAA.
-
Yeah, and that's fine. I'd rather see them save the arms of Smith, Cannon, and Martin. Let Syndergaard or the next parade of aging arms take some innings in a losing season
-
You never know, but he most likely would have had a job by now if he could still be effective. We'll see.

I couldn't share the link, but he's reporting to Glendale. Hopefully he can still pitch.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
hogan873 replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Sox will not pick up his option. -
The Sox have the money to spend on players. They (JR) choose not to spend it. To paraphrase James Earl Jones, if you build a good team, people will come watch them play. JR doesn't care about that. When the Sox have spent money, they spent it on crap. Remember the friends and family plan to entice Machado?

Sox trade Andrew Vaughn to acquire Aaron Civale
hogan873 replied to WestEddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Brewers: We are honoring your request and trading you to the White Sox. Civale: Oh, I think you misheard what I said. I said I wanted a FADE, as in a new haircut. Sorry for any confusion! Brewers: Too late. Civale: I'll go to the bullpen and be good. I won't complain at all. I swear! Brewers: Sorry, it's a done deal. Civale: *stomps foot* I hate you! -
Sox trade Andrew Vaughn to acquire Aaron Civale
hogan873 replied to WestEddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Civale can eat some innings and be better than Chubz Wilson, it's fine. Vaughn is gone, and that's a plus. I don't see him turning it around, at least not dramatically. Elko doesn't seem to be the answer at 1B, but this move keeps him up with the club for a while at least. -
Tim Elko walks it off. Vaughn would never. Meidroth on base 5 times! Burke had a nice game. There is light at the end of the tunnel for team ownership. What a day.

Sox score 8 runs without Robert in the lineup, and his replacement in CF hits a 3-run home run. Coincidence? I agree that Tauchman and Slater were good signings. Hopefully both can stay healthy now. I saw someone on X speculate that the Sox could hold on to Tauchman vs. trading him. Depending on the potential return, that may not be a bad idea. That could give the Sox another year bridge to Montgomery. Nice to see Smith have a good game. I imagine he'll have some more downs and ups, and I would expect him to be limited on innings down the road. But he's a guy you protect, especially in a lost year.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
hogan873 replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There will be teams interested in Robert for his speed and defense alone, but the return is going to pennies on the dollar compared to what the Sox could have gotten for him in the past. Even compared to what they could have received this past winter, the return will be pretty light. I don't know if he'll ever be the guy we thought he could have been, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with a contender and improves quite a bit. I have to believe it's a mental thing for him. -
Holy s%*#, the meltdowns over Dan Freaking Altavilla.
-
Meh. Actually, I believe throwing fodder and vets into the bullpen in a lost year is fine. No sense in bringing up young arms that may not be ready just to have them get obliterated. Let the Altavillas of the world take the beatings. Now, paying a schlub $1 million (after he was released from the Sox minor league camp this year) is strange.
-
It was one nice day at the plate. He's been way too inconsistent and injured to believe that he's going to take off and be a great trade piece. Now, if he can stay healthy and keep hitting, the Sox may be able to get a bag of good baseballs and a coupon for free nachos from a team willing to take on his contract. That would be a win.
-
Nothing would be better than Benintendi getting hot just in time to be traded.

I don’t know if it’s a CHSN problem or a DirecTV problem, but fix it.

Seth Rogen's The Studio on Apple TV is great. The final two episodes of the season are some of the funniest TV I've seen in a long time. The show has tons of dialogue, with constant jokes and one-liners. Quite a few guest stars and cameos. The 30 minute episodes fly by.

Sosa has quietly been a pretty solid player, especially at the plate. His defense still leaves a bit to be desired, but he'll likely get better with regular exposure at 2B. The Sox have three of the four IF positions covered for a while. First base is still up in the air. Elko is better than Vaughn but neither are going to give you a decent BA.

Holy hell Robert is so bad right now.
-
Palacios can hear Tauchman breathing down his neck from AAA.
-
One good outing does not a good signing make, however Houser did everything he needed to do last night. Any added stability to the starting pitching, and to the staff as a whole, is certainly welcome.
-
I know it's not likely, but if he could pitch not terribly and keep the bullpen's involvement to fewer innings, I say welcome aboard.
-
Blistering amount of internet traffic.
-
I'm surprised Slater was back before Tauchman. Hopefully he's back soon so Palacios can be jettisoned elsewhere. Baldwin should play everyday in Charlotte and allow him to get better...hopefully.
