  1. Remove Mickey Mantle from the HOF! https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sportscasting.com/why-did-mickey-mantle-drink-so-much/%3famp
  2. My minor league managers went straight to the clubhouse fridge stocked with beer after every damn game - might as well fire the entire farm staff too
  3. I decided to email in support of TLR. You all have lost your minds. He got a DUI admitted it - tells the truth - and guess how many of you or at least many people you know get away with it more than you can count and never apologized to anyone or lost your jobs? I blew a .10 after waiting an hour and having five drinks in around 4.5 hours. Drove at hour 5.5 or so not a heavy drinker. Guess what, DUI. And since? Do I deserve to lose my job? My reputation? No I learned from it and moved on. Oh he did it twice. Well he’s more than twice my age. I know people that do it all the time and you do too. National shunning is absurd and as for Stroman? Who cares about your kneeling or whatever opinions. You realize Tony La Russa wouldn’t give a damn if you were on his team. And he was out of context anyway I don’t even know why I’m discussing this. I’m not political at all. The fact is the media has blown up this guy to be some sort of fuck up and racist unfit to manage and all I see is a HOF actively taking this team to the next level. All of you in this topic need to get a grip for campaigning to get him out. You don’t even know the man and even so look in the mirror. You never had more drinks than you should’ve and drove? Seriously?
  4. Hey guys, I lurk. Dan here. Reason I didn't have too much time. Played indy ball for the past few years. I run a blog now. Guess who out of the top 15 OBP (losers) would improve to an amazing level even with the K's... Caveat? He has to show boat his homers and lure the pitcher to get HBP... only twice. It's all on my blog. But I'm excited if it ends up working...
  5. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 10:32 AM) Jeff Liefer - please drop by when you can. anyone who played minor league ball knows a hell of a lot more than most of us. maybe change your name and go incognito. I like reading what you guys post more. I am a fan first. But I had to just indicate I've lived like Frazier does at lesser levels and anyone who hits for power like that doesn't need a game off because it just puts them further away from figuring "it" out. We need players around him to make that sustainable because we already saw what he can do to single handedly win games.
  6. I always read and never comment (for christ sake my user name is Jeff Liefer) BUT... I played a little minor league ball, and I've seen teams that start fast and I've seen teams that start slow and both of which I've seen in college and minors and MLB that come on and win in the playoffs... This is not that team... however it could be. There is still a core that can win, albeit a weak core, and all of you know its time is limited. The guys I like to add to said core (Eaton/Abreu/Frazier/Sale/Q/Rodon/Robertson/Jones) are: Rich Hill, Drew Pomeranz (I would've paid up for him over the "proven" Shields), Danny Valencia (as an OF/DH), Jay Bruce (hated him, now he's consistent enough to like), Carlos Gonzalez (the heat up is coming and it will be huge), Adam Duvall (really like him, future looks bright... Trumbo like power), Freddie Freaking Freeman (this is a true 1B that could benefit from a move to a better offense ours at least has some protection for him), Christian Bethancourt (only found one article about the added leg kick this off-season but in limited time he has been amazing and I don't understand why the Padres don't have him splitting time with Norris more), any of the Yanks big three RP, Zack Wheeler (though I just saw he is not for trade)... Rodon seems to finally be ready. Averaged 94.5 MPH on the fastball and had 14.1% swinging strikes against Cleveland. That is ELITE. Kershaw is averaging about 93 MPH and 16% swinging strikes for the whole season just for reference. IF we have more of that Carlos, we may already have a great 1-2-3. Anyway, it's up to the gods whether that will happen or not. I have no faith in Hahn. Everyone wants to fire Robin, well no one is perfect. How about fire Hahn first for giving Robin Jimmy Rollins as his opening day SS? Or Avisail Garcia at DH? Let's be realistic... this team should've offered Fowler a multi-year contract. Anyone with eyes could see this guy is one of those late bloomers who used adjustments to become above average in 2015. He is now approaching elite status as a table setter. I still think the Cubs bombed with Heyward (but that's another topic...). One last thought, was hearing we may trade Frazier on MLB network ala Morosi this morning. Big mistake. My hitting was much like Frazier in college and before I eventually was released. Power hitters go through prolonged droughts. It's worth it if we're going to compete to let him get hot again. He can carry our team in the later months. Giving him days off here and there in a slump is like missing out on a big pay day in the stock market. He could've had a huge power day at the plate. They come out of nowhere. I never think guys like him need a "day off"... They should be there every day with consistent contact hitters to bail him out. We need more Eaton's and less Shuck's when it comes to that. Anyway, just my thoughts. If none of those objectives (offense/SP/pen) are achieved, this team is doomed and a massive amount of talent needs to be brought in to save the squad. EDIT: Also, am I the only one who vomits when they see Melky hitting 4? I agree that Frazier is true 5-7 hitter on a good team, but Melky is an 8-9-or 2... Other edit: Forgot to add I'm working as a scout now for another squad and I should never post here again that I am still a Sox fan :) =) Hang in there boys... we got a great fan base
  7. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) Here's hoping Jose Abreu The Player's production is the inverse of Jose Abreu The Poster's...production EDIT: hurts me to rip a fellow Gimmick account, but there's just too much data taking me there Gimmick account??
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 03:57 PM) I was going to post my KW meme from the other thread, since it mentioned Cliff Lee, but it's no longer there. I saw it a few days ago... would totally work here haha
  9. Didn't KW claim Rios to block him from Detroit a few years ago?
  10. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) Cliff Lee Claimed On Waivers By Ben Nicholson-Smith [August 3 at 3:46pm CST] Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee has been claimed on waivers, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports (on Twitter). The Phillies can now pull Lee back off of waivers, assign his contract to the team that won the claim, or work a trade out with the claiming team. Lee can block trades and claims to 21 teams, which could limit the Phillies' flexibility, depending on the identity of the claiming team. Kenny???
  11. would love to see KW turn water into wine again ala (Stewart/Lilli for) Youk and (Escobar/Hernandez for) Liriano. Gavin next? He's actually somewhat valueable at times unlike anyone else we've traded. Imagine what KW could get for him..
  12. I remember the rumor a few weeks back about the White Sox having interest in Betances. KW could easily sell some of our current MLB talent for a contending teams prospects and then flip them in a frankenstein type creation package for a top flight SP like Hernandez. That would be incredible. Also Seattle is open for business as far as I know, look at Ichiro. They have guys like Danny Hultzen in AAA that I bet they're dying to bring up into their rotation.
  13. NON-TWITTER UPDATE - LAST HOUR: Peavy on top in AL w/33% more votes than Yu. Bourn and Harper tied for 2nd with their eyes on Freese.
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 12:38 PM) I get the feeling we can't compete with the nation of Japan. Darvish is leading twitter vote right now. Unbelievable considering all of the #TakeJake trends going worldwide. But also factual because we are competing against a bunch of Japanese people who also have the internet... damn them.
