I don’t expect them to win the SB, but they won 7 games and blew three losses where they had a +90% win expectancy in the 2nd half of those games. There is also much more to it than that. The package he got from Carolina at that current moment was franchise altering. Not only securing the No. 1 pick, but securing a true No. 1 is not easy, and he accomplished both, and still ended up with a key piece in Wright. Now, with that said, he’s being far too conservative with the cap. He’s shown he’s willing to be aggressive (Claypool comes to mind) but it obviously didn’t work out. It seems like he’s taking the Hoyer approach of “We want this guy but if it becomes a bidding war, we’re sticking to our projections” and sometimes you have to bite the bullet and get your guy. You can always screw with the cap and kick the can down the road if you really need to.

Said it before, but if you have made the determination that you are upgrading at QB by selecting Williams, then trading a worse QB within your division shouldn't be a concern to the Bears

At this point, while the Bears are...the Bears, Poles has given me very little reason to doubt him. Literally every indicator out there is pointing to Caleb, and I can't see a scenerio where Poles thinks it's a good idea to have Fields and Caleb both at Training Camp. If they are left without a seat when the QB musical chairs stop, someone will take a flyer on him for a 6th, and hopefully Poles has the stones to just eat it and move on.

Sort of. There will be a game of musical chairs with QB's, but the market for Fields is thin. Here are the realistic suitors: - Falcons: They are 100% going to make a move at QB, but with the heavy Rams influence on their coaching staff now, not sure Fields is the guy for that system. We'll see - Browns: Browns are kind of interesting, but moving off of Watson would be catastrophic for their cap, so not sure it can even be done - Vikings: If Cousins leaves, they might make the most sense, and if you think Fields isn't the guy, trading him in the division shouldn't matter - Raiders: Interesting fit, and are picking 13 so will be out on the first 3/4 QB's. Could see them taking a swing on Russell Wilson - Steelers: Still think they make the most sense but not sure if they are interested in Fields - Titans: Kind of a wild card but if they are in the market for a QB, they should be able to nab a good one at 7 Cousins is going to one of the teams listed above, so you could cross a team off the list already. Let's say he goes back to the Vikings. Titans and Browns are a stretch, so it leaves you ATL, PIT and the Raiders. Wilson probably goes to one of those three teams. So now you are down to two teams realistically. There just isn't a huge market there.

If the Bears have really targeted, say Odunze, I could def. see them trading up to 7 or 8 to get their guy. Will cost a decent amount, but I could see Poles getting aggressive to get what he considers two absolute difference makers in the 1st round. I still think a stud OL at 9 makes sense if they are there, and I've beaten the drum on teams like the Packers and Texans having mediocre WR rooms and the QB's making the talent around them better, but I can get on board with the argument that putting Caleb in the best position and having DJ-Odunze to throw to in Year 1 is pretty attractive.
