  1. Past hour
  2. What sucks is that the Mets have been offering the same bum for Robert for a year. The Mets know he sucks, we know he sucks, but for all of Getz’s bluster about picking up Robert’s option and not trading him unless the return is worthwhile, he had to eat the s%*# pie and take Acuna. I can’t wait to hear Getz’s quotes today trying to polish this turd of an acquisition.
  3. I regret to inform you it’s basically what he has been since 2023.
  4. Did they really manage to spell “bobblehead” wrong?
  5. Awful trade. What a disgusting thing to wake up to. Traded him for a bunch of trash. I’m probably overreacting but whatever.
  6. Honestly, it’s better than nothing
  7. And the Sox marketing team looked at this and are leaning into the meme
  8. I’m not saying you weren’t right. But the Sox are risk averse to the extreme when it comes to pitchers. They would rather trade him for a good return of young cheaper prospects than worry about having to eventually pay him the big bucks and him getting injured all the time. This is the culture the owner built.
  9. So he is going to hit a playoff homer? Hell yeah.
  10. Remember when we argued last winter about Robert’s theoretical free agent value? And you said he was easily worth as much as Bellinger or more? Yea…
  11. Hindsight? Lol, pal, ive been showing data and reasons crochet was a top 3 arm in baseball since his 5th start with the team.
  12. Thanks for sharing. I thought it was at $72 million.
  13. Nah, now that this team signed Murakami, I heard they were all in!
  14. The Sox were worried about Crochet holding up as a starter like you said, but at least they sold him high and got a good return for him. Crochet staying healthy and getting even better with the Red Sox is a big of hindsight. Robert was just traded for the next Leury Garcia. Big difference with these two trades.
  15. Payroll sits at 67 million. Lowest in baseball. We had a higher payroll 22 years ago, for reference.
  16. I mean.... they traded Crochet and then he went on to be the 2nd best pitcher in MLB and led the league in innings pitched. They traded him because of his injury risk and then he was the most durable in baseball. No idea how anyone wouldn't argue the former, especially since I called it from the second he was traded.
  17. A year ago I posited Acuña and Baty felt like a fair return for Robert (was crucified for this take). This return is notably worse.
  18. This you? "I'm coming around to the thought that the White Sox aren't repeatedly marketing Robert and failing, but they made the decision that he's the best option as their CF, and if another team wants to change their plans, it's going to cost them."
  19. I’m not sure I would argue the former, but definitely the latter. But there is some irony to moving Crochet so quickly because you might not think he can hold up physically as a starter but at the same time you hang onto an injury-prone guy in Robert for so long.
  20. Traded Crochet too quickly and waited too long on Robert.
  21. Like I said, Getz was promoted to GM with Robert coming off of his best season in 2023. How does it make sense to immediately start a rebuild and not trade his best asset? Robert was never going to be around for the next contending Sox team. Getz then traded his best asset in Crochet one year later. Getz got all the credit in the world for selling Crochet high but people seem to forget that he could have done the exact same thing with Robert.
  22. Sure but outside of 2023, it was basically impossible to trade him with the timing. He was bad and kept getting hurt. I’m guessing the offers have been like this for a while. Ideally the Sox would have thrown in money to get something better but that’s asking way too much.
  23. Getz’s big talking bluster about not trading Robert without getting true value for him was pretty epic, considering he finally just accepted the oft-rumored crappy Mets offer of Acuna that we have heard about for almost a year. 🤣
  24. I mostly see non-Sox fans saying that the Sox held onto Robert for too long before finally trading him at his lowest value, which is exactly what Getz did.
  25. I guess Getz was lying when he stated on multiple occasions just how much the White Sox wanted Robert to be their CF. I guess the opportunity to acquire Acuna with little power, low OBP and the ability to play 2B was too good to pass up.
  26. Yeah people have been saying it for two years and Robert just kept getting hurt and not being good. Looking at non Sox fan reactions, everyone seems to think the Sox did okay enough/maybe just a little light for a guy who is injured way too much and only ever got to where he was supposed to be once a few years ago. It really doesn’t matter. You either let him walk for free or do this move, and I’m okay with this move because it gives more bites at the apple on finally hitting on someone.
