January 31, 200422 yr Dan Jiggets said that if Reinsdorf had a big soxfest surprise that it would be him selling the team. He said something like it has gotten so hard to afford a team...etc. Take it for what its worth. KW also said he told jose he would be opening day SS.
January 31, 200422 yr That's a pretty big statement, but if it happens. I'll fell 100X better about this team.
January 31, 200422 yr Is Jiggets a Chicago radio guy or something? I think he's the fat guy on Fox News.
January 31, 200422 yr Ha alright...Just had to know who he was....Was he serious in saying this? I mean is he a credible guy? That'd be friggen' awesome.
January 31, 200422 yr Take this for what it's worth... One of my Dad's clients went to a White Sox fantasy camp and Reinsdorf spoke at dinner. Now this guys been at White Sox fantasy camps for the past 10 or so years and Reinsy acted like he cared for the teams welfare...So they ask questions each year. And JR always answered those questions willingly. This year he said JR answered every question with the same answer "That's a question for the GM". Maybe JR is selling. Think about it, paycuts, a new stadium, a sponsor. I think there is something coming. That'd be niiice. Please let it by Trump!
January 31, 200422 yr I'm all for JR selling the team but the idea of trump running the team kinda scares me. He is a businessman who will do what it takes to make money. He may not be the best for winning, as long as he makes money.....I want a Mark Cuban type owner....someone fun who likes to win and spend cash! lol

We don't need any more money-oriented owners. We need owners that want to win no matter what the cost. I can only hope.

January 31, 200422 yr I don't want an owner who just spends to spend. We will end up like the Mets, and none of us want that. I would be perfectly happy with a $75 million payroll.
January 31, 200422 yr Ha alright...Just had to know who he was....Was he serious in saying this? I mean is he a credible guy? That'd be friggen' awesome. He has been on the news for a pretty good amount of time. Was actually on Fox Sunday Football a bunch this year too as a sideline guy. I would think he is pretty credible...I wouldn't take this for much though.
January 31, 200422 yr Actually I'm pretty sure Trump hates Steinbrenner and would do anything to prevent Stein from going to the world series. Trumps a class A buiseness man, I'd take him.
January 31, 200422 yr I want a Mark Cuban type owner....someone fun who likes to win and spend cash! lol You know, the funny thing is how Cuban runs his organization. His ticket salespeople are not allowed to discuss the team or winning and losing with their clients or they are fired. They sell entertainment and a fun atmosphere and that is what they are to focus on.
January 31, 200422 yr If Reinsdorf sold the team, the first bottle of champagne would be courtesy of Pastime. The Sox are willing to do ALMOST anything to appease Sox fans - the stadium is too high? We'll adjust the upper deck! The starting times for games is too early on Sundays? We'll move it back an hour! However, when it comes to the team and its roster - no can do. That's the biggest problem. I hate to be negative, but the roster as it's laid out now doesn't impress me a whole lot, and it's sad that we are hoping to win the most pathetic division possibly in baseball history. I'm sorry - I thought the goal was to win the World Series, not to win a horrible division and then get your ass handed to you in the playoffs. Let's just say that the Sox win the division. Our #1 pitcher in the playoffs would be Buehrle. Our #2 pitcher in the playoffs would be Loaiza. Our #3 pitcher in the playoffs would be Jon Garland. I think you get the picture.
January 31, 200422 yr As much as I want to believe it, like every Sox fan, I'll keep my 99.99999999999999% of doubt and hold out for that .000000000000001% bit of hope.
January 31, 200422 yr That's interesting speculation on Jiggett's part. And it's not entirely out of the question. Considering that JR is getting up there in years, he may be looking to sit on the front porch and drink lemonade. Also, we had that recent rumor about Trump negotiating or interested in a pro sports franchise in the $250 million ballpark, and that is about the right amount for the Sox. It's a longshot, but there may be a smidgen of creedence to this.
January 31, 200422 yr Actually I'm pretty sure Trump hates Steinbrenner and would do anything to prevent Stein from going to the world series. Trumps a class A buiseness man, I'd take him. I am with you. I would love Trump to buy this team. I think he is a competitor and would love to compete against Steinbrenner. That scenario would be a dream come true. Trump already has a ton of money from other businesses. I think a baseball team would be like a toy to him. It would be great!! And yes just spending money to spend money may get us to be like the Mets, however it could also make us the Yankees or Red Sox. The guys with money will always have the advantage. I would like to be one of those guys.

January 31, 200422 yr You'd think that Trump would buy the Mets then and move em to Manhattan just to make Steinbrenner mad.

The one thing I have to say to that is BAH!!!!!!!!!
January 31, 200422 yr There are "beat" guys in the newspapers, and columnists, who would love to break this kind of story. I have a hard time believing a TV guy, not known for being a hard digging investigator type, would get the story first. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. But PLEASE let it be true.
