....Are these "Getz Fanboys" in the room with us, now?...
-
He's putting that out there as something that isn't a direct lie. WS2023 doesn't believe a word of what he wrote.
-
Game 2 of the home series, Travis Jankowski robbed a 3-run Vaughn HR in the bottom of the 9th to save a victory.
-
You don't believe that at all. LOL.
-
Here's an article I found that attempts to explain. https://www.mlb.com/news/demarlo-hale-discusses-role-as-associate-manager
-
Covey was never with the Brewers, and he never pitched in the post-season. Something happened in Philadelphia, 2023, where his many baserunners didn't score earned runs as much as previous seasons. With expansion looming, 26 more guys like him will sift among the 32 clubs. Dylan Covey is blowout fodder who I think the White Sox have even moved beyond the need for.
-
Looks like he rehabbed from injury this past year. He's put 1.4-1.5 baserunners on per inning his entire career. Muy mal.
-
Dylan Covey just signed a major league deal with the Mets. There's another one who got away.

-
Katz had figured out Kopech. All it took was for Kopech to finally listen to him. This has been thoroughly discussed.
-
I'm with you, there. These guys bounce around. Maybe Getz was a little jumpy and let some of these guys go too quickly, and hung on way too long on others.
-
Because the people who meddled are gone? We all seem to have a problem accepting that firing people means they no longer make any decisions.
-
Half of those guys either were traded without pitching for the Sox, or didn't really get better. Bummer went from insanely horrible to passible. Declan Cronin's numbers were better than Bummers, for heaven's sake, and he was basically Justin Anderson. Banks had worse BB/K numbers. Chavez hasn't been good for anybody but Atlanta for the last 5 years. I'm sure we could make a list of guys who left and became even worse versions of ass. I think it would be fair to say some pitched better, some were worse, and some were as good. You seem to have presented it like every single guy who leaves becomes a top bullpen arm in the game.
-
This notion is growing to "entire teams of ex-White Sox have won multiple pennants since leaving" proportions. Tim Hill is enjoying his dead cat bounce. Surely your not arguing that John Brebbia and Michael Kopech "magically improved" upon leaving. Kopech started listening to his coaches 2 appearances before he was traded. Declan Cronin was basically Justin Anderson with the Marlins.
-
I don't remember saying any of that, but if you show me the post, I'd be more than happy to explain it. As far as Gonzalez, it's a rumor that was a case where upper management overruled the pros.
-
They did change the rules, but that doesn't change where the Sox are. Even picking 10th every other year, and not being guaranteed the top draft pick, I have faith in Shirley to do this better than Hostetler did. And if I'm not mistaken, aren't the international spending pools based on overall record, and not lottery pick?
-
No, I'm quite sentient. It is a rebuild. I'm not defending their spending ways. Yes, Houston did rebuild. Those 100+ loss teams were horrible. They were an actual internet meme. This is a rebuild. I'm sorry you don't agree.
-
The division seems to be between, "It's a good hire, and I'm happy", and "Maybe it's a good hire, but you shouldn't be happy".
-
Ho hum. It's a good hire. My expectations aren't lowered. I expect Getz to rebuild the organization and to eventually win. I did kind of dread a Phil Nevin hire, as the screaming would have been.....clownish?
-
Well, Venable is a legit guy, and probably wouldn't have chosen the Sox over the Marlins without some semblance of a plan to get competitive in the near future.
-
It's a rebuild, and teams go through multiple seasons of losing 100+ games. Houston, Baltimore and the Cubs are teams that bit the bullet and tanked for multiple seasons to set up their winning windows. Teams like the Padres, and Baltimore (before their main, recent rebuild) languished for years below .500, trying to "win games", but never quite enough to get over .500.
-
You could do this without regularly chastising me for my writing style, and the name-calling. We're in a rebuild. Houston and Baltimore endured multiple 100-loss seasons before their current competitive windows. A bunch of glum dudes softened up this selection for over a week by labeling everybody as a TLR hire, a JR hire, or God-forbid, somebody who ever wore a Royal uniform. The very people now shaking their heads at the low expectations LOWERED THOSE EXPECTATIONS THEMSELVES!!!
-
I'm not sure where, but somebody made a point in the last few days that hitting coaches are fungible, and move around regularly. When he was hitting coach in Miami, Tino Martinez physically accosted players on the Marlins who went to Greg Norton instead of Tino, and he actually choked a couple. Tino Martinez will likely never work in professional baseball in a serious role again. If Marcus Thames could fog a mirror, somebody would hire him.
-
So, we should be expecting a world series champion at the end of 2025, and be enraged when they don't succeed? People are assuring us this team won't compete for the next 5-6 years. Should they be signing guys like Santander to a 10 year contract so they're here when we finally win?
-
I was fully expecting Sizemore to "check all the boxes", and didn't even really mind. It had occurred to me that Sizemore has never prepared a team for Spring Training. I'm glad they have a guy who at least has been part of the process and has the experience of managing a full club from "pitchers and catchers report" through the playoffs.
