Maybe not. I was taking from the posts you guys were mocking the Sox because Castillo and Doyle would be non-tendered after the 2026 season. Maybe they would have been. But the Sox wanted them now. I'm guessing that Chris Getz isn't so stupid that he traded Mason Adams and Boston Smith for guys that other teams WEREN'T vying for. I mean, we can pretend that he's so stupid he's trading for the rights to Mordecai Brown, but I doubt that's what's happening. There were markets for Castillo and Doyle.

I understand what they were going for, and it still might work, but the clock's running out. They stated what they were going to do. They weren't going to break the bank, and they were going to try to get mid talent to eat innings. Maybe they were cocky, tried to thread a needle, and it's not working out. I've already said that if one of Castillo or Urquidy turn into Fedde, the experiment worked.
