"Mr. Sheets will let you know when you've thrown a strike." -
He costs about as much as the rookie minimum.
-
You know the Sox are paying right around the minimum for Stassi's services this year, right?

Jim Margalus wrote about this at SoxMachine in 2022: https://soxmachine.com/2022/03/lucas-giolito-shows-limitations-of-white-soxs-approach-to-extensions/ And he draws from James Fegan's Athletic article: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/3206034/2022/03/23/disconnect-on-a-contract-extension-between-lucas-giolito-white-sox-predates-arbitration-impasse/ Maybe I'm mixing up the "player rep resolute on Free Agency" story with Samardzija. Giolito's regular talking point was that he wanted to sign an extension. But the model didn't really work for players when his turn came up.
-
Giolito was a player rep, and committed to trying out the market, as I recall. Cease took on Boras, and had no interest in being "cost-controlled". Besides Lopez and Kopech, they haven't had anybody to extend since. (They did give an extension to Lynn.)

White Sox "actively seeking" packages for Robert
WestEddy replied to southsider2k5's topic in Trade Winds 2024
Pretty early during the Wannstedt era, I got tired of being angry all year. Sports radio didn't help, stupid, repeatable canards to just whine 24/7 about anything. I stopped following the Bears. My life is richer for it. -
A little off-topic, but an interesting article from Fangraphs about pitchers who had high percentages of their team's wins, and where Crochet and Fedde fall in, historically. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/garrett-crochet-and-erick-fedde-are-finding-wins-in-unlikely-places/

Because it helps make Kopech more marketable. Got yer back.
-
Oh well. I thought they were higher on him.
-
They seem to need 2 starters, now. Thorpe starts Tuesday, Cannon throws Wednesday, and then Crochet on Thursday. They just rostered a lefty in Peralta, so maybe Hill gets his walking papers Tuesday morning.

And I have no problem with that, either. Bobby Hull is a scumbag, and probably a part of why I drifted away from hockey. But he was the main guy on the Hawks. And as a child, I was also let down when he left. Both can be true. -

I deleted my post after realizing I was walking into an ongoing argument from quin's post, not your insipid BS. You really are a child. -

None of that stuff was reported then. I don't know how old you are, tray, but I'm 60, and even if it was alluded to, 9 year old me didn't quite pick up on it. Weird dunk how Xers, Zers and whatevers think everybody should have hated everybody else in their own time based on what we know now. Maybe they should STFU until after they show real shame over not rejecting today's celebrities over allegations that will come out in the next 10 years. -
That he can play a competent SS and still hits makes him "one of a group of shortstops" in our system, as opposed to organizational filler. So, yeah, he's a prospect until he can't hit.

I give him permission to tap into all the "Hey! Hey!", "Holy Mackerel", and "Holy Cow!" HR calls, too. At this point, they should all be Chicagoisms.
