Now that they didn't allocate any real money for RF, can we at least sign Ryu? Even at 4 years, you can get him for like 70m-75m.. 60m/3 years if no one offers a 4th year. There is zero excuse not to land him....that's alot less than Wheeler.

Perhaps Hahn's reticence to include Vaughn and Madrigal as someone stated explains why we are forced to try and buy low on someone with upside who can hit righties well but has alot of flaws. If you don't have a lot of quality depth and you won't trade top tier prospects (and he shouldn't do so, I agree) this is all we can do outside of using payroll flexibility to absorb a bad contract as the means of compensation which they seem to be doing in talks with BOS for Benintendi. That's the only two ways to do it if you are in that position. Hopefully we will get something done that's decent.

Benintendi may be a good talent but he hasn't shown power so far and next year hes projected around a 2.5 WAR. The absolutely would have to throw him in or eat half of price's money or maybe throw him in and eat a smaller amount of money.

There's that ok his other comment implying we are trying to address RF and SP in the same trade.

Thats 25m a year...no way. He's 34 and had an injury issue. What's he projected for....2.5 wins. It will decline from there. And Benintendi's salary will keep rising. Thats alot of money we are taking off their plate. I think Beni is perfect for LF but not so much in RF. His arm isn't awesome and I don't see the power yet. Maybe it will come. He's a good player...LHH, good OBP, but I'd like some more power. BOS needs to eat 20m.

Price/Beni plus at least 15m in money back to us, deferred to 21 and 22, however so BOS benefits in the short term and we benefit the next few years when we need the money.

I still want BOS to pay something even with Beni coming back...maybe not in 2020, but in 21 and 22, since this year we can afford it and conversely this is the year BOS needs maximum relief salary wise for the luxury tax. Maybe BOS agrees to pay 22m, but it's broken down as 11m in 2021 and 11m in 2022 but nothing this year.

Beni lacks the arm or power for RF. He'd be absolutely perfect in LF if Eloy moves to DH. I'd take them both, if BOS eats 20m of the 96m. I'd still get Joc for RF. Eloy to DH. Jose stays at 1B this year. Have no clue what to do with him next year...that extension really screwed us.

Benintendi lacks the power or the arm for RF. Price is worthless. Sale I'd do if they eat a third of the 150m but apparently bridges are completely burned.

Maybe Bummer is the major league talent referred to in addition to ReyLo and Rodon and one of the minor league OFers and Collins. That would be a good package. And they could replace him with the money saved on a FA pitcher with someone like Betances.

They may be throwing people off the scent. Hector is credible in my eyes even if his friend is unproven. They may be trying to finalize it. But it still doesn't make sense. He cannot play RF. If he's gonna be the DH that leaves Jose with nowhere to play in 21 or 22 since rabbit said Vaughn is not being traded. Ozuna in LF puts Eloy at DH which still leaves someone making 17m a year with nowhere to play and while the Sox might be sentimental about Jose, they aren't gonna be THAT sentimental, so it doesn't add up unless they just don't care about corner OF defense at all.

If the Dodgers insist on having an unreasonable price for Joc and Ozuna and/or Castellanos costs more than 4/65 then I'm ok with Calhoun for 1 year. Next year we can sign Joc just for cash anyway and since he can't hit lefties, the price would be probably reasonable. By that point, Basabe might be ready to be his platoon partner and like Joc he also provides good defense in RF.
