Alek Thomas
Sure....he has a very low BABIP and his wOBA is well beneath xwOBA so there may some positive regression coming and defensive stats on both FG and also Savant are good. OAA is 85th percentile and sprint speed 68th percentile.

Latest Teel News...
That's positive. Hopefully it doesn't act up on him again while running.

2026 MILB Catch-All
Yeah I think they prolly need to see at least all of May and June AAA data from him to get a decent sample size and especially K%.

5/7 Games
Braden 3-5 with 2 doubles, BB and only 1 K. Very good.

Observations in Anaheim from hi8is
What good does it do us if he has to be taken out by the 3rd inning cause he's already walked 4 guys?

Sox at LAA of Anaheim at 3:07 CDT 5/6 Schultz day
Sam is starting to lead off more now which is much better given his high OBP. We will have to see what they do when Teel comes back. They seem to like Mune at 2, Vargas at 3 to break up the lefties and usually Colson at 4 or 5. Depending on the pitcher, Meidroth or Antonacci should lead off. This lineup will be very difficult for RHP when Teel is back and also when Braden is up, as he has been much better hitting from the left side this year. I see savages everywhere. IMO, very few lineups have 7 credible hitters (Mune, Colson, Vargas, Antonacci, Teel, Braden, Meidroth).

Lol.....Bonemer needs to be in AA.

Is it time to bring up Hagen Smith?
Good post. And if he's dialing it back to improve control, it's not working so they need to try something else or have him spend some time in a pitching lab with Bannister. It doesn't benefit us for him to go out there and give up 3-4 runs in 3 IP with 4 walks. It doesn't accomplish anything of value.

Is it time to bring up Hagen Smith?
Yeah I don't understand Jimmy's logic. Hagen isn't anywhere near ready. The command is still very awful.

At what point do we start to believe?
Sorry Caulfield I was confused as to what thread I was in.

Bring up Braden Montgomery to play Right Field
Most important variable is K rate. Needs to keep it to around where it's at right now in AA, i.e. 25% or ideally less.

5/3 Sox @ Padres - 3:10PM CT
Realistically, you can't really complain too much about giving up 3 over 5 IP from our worst SP on the road against a good team.

Nice!

Somehow Kay hasn't been a dumpster fire today. Don't let this go to waste, offense.....get some runs for him.

Romo has been so much better than Quero it isn't even close

Way too aggressive, Sam

5/3 Sox @ Padres - 3:10PM CT
Good news is Antonacci leading off in place of Beni which I have been arguing for. Bad news is Beni is somehow batting 3rd.

5/3 Games
Sigh....Hagen needs alot more work. The dip in velocity is bad too.

Not extending Murakami would be a PR disaster
Agreed but they aren't gonna pay 250M+ for a 1B no matter what, so if he's hitting 50+ bombs you're gonna need to cash out your chips when the value is the highest.
-
Not extending Murakami would be a PR disaster
Choose a different haul if you prefer, but the point remains we could prolly get alot.
-
Not extending Murakami would be a PR disaster
Yeah....if this continues, even if JR/Ishbia wanted to pay him, it could quickly become price prohibitive especially for a 1B and having an owner out there desperately wanting a big splash to get fans to forget about a dumpster fire team (cough....NYM...cough) might be willing to give up a King's Ransom (Benge or Ewing + Tong) to bring Japanese Godzilla to their media market.

Bring up Braden Montgomery to play Right Field
Braden should be promoted to AAA first. He has improved walk rate, shown awesome improvement in game power and has gotten K% down slightly under 25% finally, but we still need to see what happens to the average and K% when he hits AAA. If it spikes to over 30%, he's gonna need a couple of months to work on it further. Alot of our guys struggled with the jump from AA to AAA. Need to see what he does with it first for at least a couple months but there's a decent shot he could be in Chicago by August or September. He should be promoted to AAA tho.

At what point do we start to believe?
Imagine how good the rotation would be if we hadn't spent the offseason dumpster diving (again) and actually added a legit SP rather than this blue light special garbage that we do every fucking year.

5/2 Sox @ Padres - 7:40PM CT
Unfortunately, it's highly improbable that Kay could pull that off, especially if they stack their lineup with righties. Kay has been awful and his expected stats are even worse than his normal stats so it's prolly gonna get worse. IMO, if they flew in Hagen overnight and he threw only 3 innings mixed in with a bunch of walks it still would probably be better than Kay. I expect SD's bats to finally come alive against him.
