Yeah I don't see any benefit to starting Houser tomorrow and Robert should be out too. -

But then you get into the Kimbrel situation where you are on the hook for a huge salary and teams will lessen the compensation considerably and then you are in a staredown throughout ST and the FO is praying he doesn't get hurt otherwise Jerry will read them the riot act for having to pay 20m for someone the FO likely promised him they would have been able to trade the prior year. -
Because we need something....anything new to talk about even if it's totally made up phony insider info, cause we're just rehashing the same stuff and same arguments in a circle over and over again.

I think it's interesting today that after we heard all about Vientos for awhile, Rosenthal is suggesting we've now shifted back to Top 10 prospects instead, which IMO is good. I dont know if NYM needs a bottom of rotation starter but maybe throw in Houser, eat half of Robert's money and try to get BOTH Gilbert and Clifford. Gilbert has really come on at the plate recently in AAA so call him up and evaluate his work in CF for the rest of the year. Clifford is tearing the cover off the ball in AA....bring him in, promote him to AAA and he will probably go wild in that park in Charlotte. Try to see if he can keep improving his hit tool to go with his mega savage power and let him compete in ST for the LF position. Worst case he is a big lefty masher at 1B or DH and can be a long term 4 hole player against RHP. I could see a future with high OBP Chase leading off (needs to get back to North of .350 OBP), Montgomery 2, one of Vargas/Teel/Quero 3 depending on matchup, Clifford 4, Braden 5. -

I think September 2026 might be more realistic for Braden. -

We almost certainly are bluffing if we are claiming we will exercise the option. -
Very excited for the NFL season and I have high expectations this year for the first time in awhile. Go Broncos!

Colson should be batting in the heart of the order. He's clearly the best hitter on the team. -

This.....although fathom mentioned there's no indication he is in the trade block at this time. He could actually get a real return given the years of control. -

Penny wise pound foolish -
Hopefully Davis Martin looks good tonight. They could actually get something good for him due to control. I feel they rushed him back to showcase him.

Yankees have discussed Austin Slater per Buster Olney

I wouldn't be shocked if we wanted to take a flier on Pereira to build some OF depth (even for a flawed 4th OF), since according to BTV both Slater and Pereira have equivalent value (1 or 0) and Pereira won't see the field there at all. -

I just looked at Mauricio's stats and he is doing quite well so like Baty it's not happening. Dammit. I will say that as between a decent but flawed LH bat prospect like Gilbert or Clifford, or pitching, I'll take the bat. I think pitching wise we are OK even with down years by Schultz and Hagen. They'll come around and they'll be in the rotation at some point next year. We just really need some more bats, particularly LH bats. -

Baty would be the best of this list, however as the article notes it may not be as realistic. I still would prefer Gilbert. He checks alot of boxes. LH, good OBP and plate discipline, appears to have a decent shot to stick in CF with above avg speed and very recently has turned it on at the plate in AAA, so he could step in and we could evaluate him in CF for awhile. As @Chicago White Sox mentioned, I'm not sure why we are looking at these infielders when we don't have anything in the OF right now. -
They drafted very well this year. Hopefully after not spending for a few years we can start to have a semi reasonable budget next year. Like even just 130m (which is still very low and should produce large operating profits) should mean we could make several solid signings since there is almost nothing on the books besides Beni.
