  1. Only going by what I read. Carlos Collazo thinks he'll stick behind plate and loves the bat. Highlights I saw were positive. I'd rather have Dingler but Parada might be the best of the bunch. My preference for round 2 ...1) Kelley, 2) Dingler, 3) Wilcox
  2. Dingler would be a good pick. Mature leader with strong catching skills to work with stable of young arms. Also, Parada looks the part behind the plate as well.
  3. Vera, Thompson, Dahlquist, Steiver and......
  4. Draft ceiling. Abel is the guy. Add him to the mix w/Steiver, Thompson, Dahlquist, etc. and extend the window. If he's gone, I'd be okay with Detmers or Howard but if Abel is there at 11, gotta take him.
  5. One consequence of the pandemic could be the devaluation of professional sports franchises. Without predictable gate and concession revenue, owners don't have obvious levers to cut expenses. As in any business, if revenue is declining, valuations will follow.
  6. My wish list: pick #1 Abel pick #2 Jared Shuster pick #s 3,4,5 BPA (at least 1 more pitcher)
  7. Longenhagen on Detmers... Detmers' curveball is arguably the best pitch in the entire draft and he locates his fastball well enough to get away with throwing only 92 Detmers' curveball is hell's rainbow, especially for left-handed hitters who think it's headed for their lips, bail, and watch it bend into the zone. He does go on to state his concern over lack of a well developed third offering but seems more optimistic than others about his MLB path.
  8. Detmers curveball looks to be the best SO pitch in this draft and among the best I've seen. The guy struck out better than 2 batters per inning this year. Plus he's young and who's to say he can't add a couple ticks to his fastball. If he can get his heater up to mid-90s, he is a 1/2 rotation piece...might be anyway.
  9. I'm with Law on this one. If Detmers makes it to 11, he should be the pick. If not, I'd cut a deal with Howard (who seems destined for WS). I'm happy either way, especially if we can add a fireballer or two in 2-5.
  10. My guess is there have been a number of professional athletes in general and baseball players in particular who have enjoyed success while also managing this health challenge but I have no idea of the performance and/or longevity impact. I do like Mitchells tools and his upside, especially if he can tap into his power and hope he has a lengthy and productive career, ideally with the WS.
  11. Excellent post. Lots of analysis. I like Garrett Mitchell better than Bailey et al but hoping for Howard if the top arms are taken.
  12. Draft hope #1 (in order of preference) Abel, Detmers, Meyer, Howard - most mocks have WS grabbing Bailey and while I wouldn't be crushed, if top pitchers are off the board, I'd prefer Howard, ideally under-slotted ($3.75-4M range) #2 Jared Shuster, Masyn Winn or possibly Austin Wells (quite possible all 3 will be gone). #3-5 if Howard selected at 11, I'd focus on pitchers with all 3 picks. If we get one of the top pitchers at 11, I'd try to grab a college SS/2B w/one of these picks.
  13. If Abel is off the board, Detmers would be my choice.
  14. For me, hoping for Abel, Detmers or Meyer in that order although a coin flip between Detmers and Meyers. With #2 am hoping one of the top catchers falls to us...maybe Dingler or Wells but probably wishful thinking. If not, college fireballers, ideally LH.
  15. Thanks for posting. At least one of these two should be available at 11. I like them both.
  16. I might like Austin Wells better than either of them
  17. Appears to be a group of talented catchers, each with plusses and minuses, which is why I can't see using # 11 on Bailey. If Dingler falls to us in Rd 2, would be hard pressed to pass but I think I'd still favor Jimmy's guy, Shuster, if they were both available.
  18. Reasonable chance he will be there. Would love to see Jarvis slide to us here but unlikely. Since lots of buzz re: catchers, maybe Dingler a possibility here ?
  19. If no minor league action this year, and no clear visibility into 2021 and, given the truncated seasons of HS and college players (read where Abel hasn't thrown a game pitch since last season), does anyone have a read on how teams might view the lengthy inactivity in terms of draft risk. Would teams be more inclined to draft college players with longer histories or might they feel the added 'downtime' might benefit some of the younger players...like Abel and/or Howard?
  20. Guessing one of Meyer, Detmers, Abel will be there at 11. Also Howard, a possible underslot candidate at 11. No need to go cather at 11. Several talented receivers will be there at 2-5.
  21. Fangraphs has Meyer at 13 and Detmers at 15
  22. I'm not sure its stupid of the owners. They are being asked to make major financial/cost decisions based upon insufficient information. As badly as I want to see the draft happen in June, if I represented the owners, I would try delay it as long as possible until, hopefully, we have reliable visibility into a possible vaccine, without which, its impossible to predict revenues for 2021 and beyond.
  23. Seems trivial in light of current plight but am hopeful the MLB draft is not delayed. If I had the pick and barring one of Lacy or Hancock sliding to 11, I'd try to sign Howard, ideally below slot, then go pitching, pitching, pitching.
