Please be real Austin Booker. Guy got so much hype last year and he looks physically bigger this year which is what he needed to do. Even if hes just a stud situational pass rusher that could be huge. Outside of Booker, without a lot of the starters out there the game was kind of a nothingburger....Trapilo looked good but he didn't come in till way late in the game so the quality of the D out there is not what he's gonna face in real games.

Yankees acquire Austin Slater for RHP Gage Ziehl

Hypothetically this should give the Sox some added leverage in a Tauchman trade too you would think. -
I mean...I don't necessarily think Billy has been the issue here. I guess he can get some blame for the team defense, but the style of play he brought to the team offensively was exactly what you want in the modern NBA. Bulls were 6th in scoring last year.

I was in Vegas last year while summer league was going on. It was first time in Vegas so I didn't really wanna spend the time at a game but was hoping to run into somebody, butttt, I didn't. One of these years I'm gonna go out there. Sooooo, Noa.....oooof. At least he was willing to contest that dunk I guess. He's definitely gonna see some time in Hoffman Estates and that's fine. He hasn't been god awful but not surprisingly as an 18 year old not named Cooper Flag, he's not ready. Loved seeing Buzelis continue to be ultra aggressive. He flashed a lot of that last year and man, he NEEDS to be a guy this year. IF Giddey is the guy he was post Zach trade, and Matas takes the step we hope, there's no reason they can't be an actual playoff team. From there you can figure out what you wanna do with Coby and Vuc money to build around those 2.

Who's excited for summer league action tonight??!! 😂😂 Just me??? Lol. Really excited to see Essengue. If he comes in confident and aggressive I think he'll carve out a role fairly early. He drew fouls at a really high rate last year and that's something the Bulls didn't do as a team. Also, I really hope Yuki makes the team, if for nothing more than to play the Scalabrine roll. Memphis fans loved him and I'm sure Chicago will as well.
-
Who's making the bigger bet here? The Bulls betting on Giddey not being worth more than 30 million a year or Giddey making the bet he will be?
-
Unpopular opinion...If Josh Giddey only wants 30M a year, I'm making the move right now. IF, and again I'll emphasize the IF, he plays like he did post Zach trade, he's getting a max contract next year. Giddey was really fucking good down the stretch, and it really wasn't empty stats either.

NBA is so weird. I just learned that Golden State can only take back half of whatever they sign Kuminga to in a sign and trade. So there goes the rumored Vuc for Kuminga deal. Pwill even makes too much sadly. So we're basically talking Coby for Kuminga as the only real possibility, which I'm not sure I do. Sorry for not responding to the rest of the post, there's a lot there. Lol

I wonder if Ayton is willing to take the MLE. That's really the only true game changer they might be able to afford.
-
Facts. That's also not what got this conversation started and I never said they did.
-
I mean they kinda are, Lakers traded away players and recieved back players who had expiring deals, which is what they did with Zach. They had Randle come off the books as well which is what will happen with Vuc. Lakers didn't clear all the space in one offseason, they had a plan and executed. Unfortunately Vuc is not Anthony Davis as well.
-
Except they must have created the space or in the case of Luka matched the salary in a trade. A quick look see says the Lakers had 61 mill in cap space the year they got LeBron. Luka like I said they matched with Davis salary.
-
I mean, when's the last time they've actually had the cap room to land a guy?
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Jaren Jackson gets traded this year, he loses bird rights and the team he goes to has to be under the cap to resign him correct? 2026 seems to be the next legit time the Bulls can make a legit free agent swing and JJJ might be the big fish out there. He from Indiana so I wonder if he's a Bulls fan. I believeeeee they could legit resign Giddey AND White AND sign a big time FA.
-
FWIW they deal had them taking on Marcus Smarts contract as well with the 1RP. Probably still coulda woulda shoulda done that.

Okoro is a tremendous defender so there's that. OKC and Indiana were 2 of the best defensive teams in the league and we saw where that got em. Ball was good defensively but reliability/availability will always be a question for him.
-
I mean, I totally get it, the criticism is largely warranted and yes, losing sucks and should be a HUGE barometer on judging a front office.... That being said there's a cap floor in the NBA. IF Giddey continues to play like he did in the 2nd half, and yes Kyyle, I emphasized IF, I can't fathom they let him go when they're only at 32mill in cap space.
-
The Bulls next offseason have 32 million in payroll after presumably picking up Matas option.... I see zero reason why they cant/won't sign him especially if he plays like he did down the stretch. Honestly I think they are just waiting till next offseason to hope to build something. Matas will be in his 3rd year, Noa his 2nd, Giddey will be a 24 year old star hopefully, and they can actually spend money on top of that. Idk what people's expectations of this year were or how they were gonna reach them when the NBA has a salary cap.
-
If Josh Giddey post Lavine trade is the real Josh Giddey we get going forward, he can absolutely be on the next Bulls good/great team. Post All Star dude put up 21/10/9 with a 62% TS%.....He's only 22....Why can't he be considered an emerging star?
-
The Bulls are undoubtedly more entertaining to watch especially last year. The losing part that results in them being in NBA sucks, but the ride was fun.
-
Loved hearing Jay Bilas compare him to Siakim. Hopefully he can beef up and develop a 3 point shot, but overall I like him. It'll be interesting to see how him and Matas work together on the floor size wise defensively.... will they need a true big on the floor while Matas and Noa are your 3 and 4? Will Noa have enough length to where he can play the 5 with Matas at the 4? I guess it all depends on matchups.
-
The Bradley Beal rumors are back and I don't how to feel about it. The Google machine tells me his defense has improved significantly and that he's been a good off ball scorer. I think for Vuc, i might try it. Giddey is your main "PG," but he's got the size to "Play SF." Coby-Beal-Giddey-Matas-Collins Ball-Ayo-Huerter-Sticks-Rookie off the bench.
-
I'm gonna get yelled at for this, but what's the difference between Haliburton and 2nd half Giddey? If 2nd half Giddey is really who he is, I don't see why he can't be as good as Hali.
-
OZ is very Tim Patrick-esque in that he's a good blocker and does all the lil dirty work. That's a thing in Ben's offense.
