Does it matter what the market is? It makes 0 sense to squabble over signing a RP that isn't asking for the moon if you are looking to contend. We are not close to the threshold of paying luxury tax, you still have flexability, and this team is about to contend for a WS. This is penny wise but a pound foolish.

Does that really matter? I mean, its not like he is seeking 10yrs and 300M. I think he is asking for a reasonable contract at $40M.
