Kopech update
No good teammate in professional sports wants anything but health and prosperity for their teammates. It's why no one thinks Allen Robinson is selfish in the Bears locker room; they all get this is a ruthless industry and you have to get yours when you can and they are rooting for him to get paid as much as he is. In the same scope, media and fans are really the only people that question players health and injuries and etc. So if Kopech thought he wasn't prepared to be healthy and focused and etc, his teammates wouldn't consider him selfish at all. He would be doing what's best for everyone! they're rooting for him to figure it out and get well. Am I saying all teammates are like this? No, I'm not, but the good ones and the captains and leaders absolutely are. Selfish people exist in all walks of life and people who don't care about others do too, but in general this would be viewed as an honest and selfless move to get better by teammates, not a selfish one. The only people who question this bs and play this gossip card are guys that don't sit in that locker room as a peer.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX PLAYOFF CLINCHING WINNER!!!
So many people coming into this year were critical of the off-season... critical of the rebuild. Pessimistic about this season and the future... This team took the step the front office thought they would when they started putting it together. People have been so used to failure and losing that they can't enjoy the good times; that negative look to protect them from the usual failures overcomes them. Stop... because for the first time in the history of the franchise, this isn't "the year" it's the first year.. the beginning. The beginning of something that other teams look at as a model. Let's Go.

You have to start McCann for now
i literally quoted steve stone saying this in another thread and was critical of his take, so this isn't exactly the gotcha moment you were looking for.

Mendick to Schaumburg, Jose Ruiz up.
Sox wanted another arm for the bullpen; imagine they'll be sending Ruiz back but down soon and Mendick will be back up but who knows

mazara
You would think so, but if they were high on Mazara (who knows if they truly were) they'll keep him. If they were just taken a flyer as some think, they'll move on. If he's playing in October without breaking out of his funk I would fully expect him to be back.

Comparing Sox young guys to past players
Yeah, that was a great trade for both sides. One of the rare times. Cameron came up like 5 years too soon; OBP and walks hadn't quite taken off in value yet. They did as his career went on, but he never quite got the due he deserved.

Yeah, I don't agree with this totally. The Sox are clearly at the level. The Sox have 3 of the 4 best players in the AL this year according to BRef, and 5 of the top 22 according to fWAR. Sox fans just seem uncomfortable accepting how good the players are it feels like; and I get it, the Sox have never had a collection of young talent like this, and it's hard to believe. The Sox have a star at 6 positions. A STAR. Then they have Madrigal and Mazara. The Sox don't "need" a few more pieces offensively. I think the Sox should fill the Mazara hole, but it's not a glaring need on a team that has stars all over the diamond. The Sox do need another SP and maybe another BP piece, but so does every team in baseball but for maybe the Dodgers.

I actually took Menechino's comments completely differently than how many read them. A lot of people took them as a shot at Mazara. "I haven’t figured that out. He’s in between mechanics sometimes. He’s in between approach sometimes. There’s gotta be some kind of pressing going on in there. So, you know, to really pinpoint it, I can’t." To me, this is just saying he's going through some changes and he hasn't been able to sync up his approach and mechanics and now he's pressing.

Maybe Jerry wants to get Springer, and I'm all in on that.. the Sox will have plenty of money to spend. That said, I don't buy for one minute that Jerry is unhappy about anything on this team lol.

mazara
This is true; he could run good for a week and the season is pretty much over. I think Engel has earned it, but I also think they want Mazara to play through this because otherwise they think he won't find his way out. If they are working with him everyday on a mechanical adjustment to get more lift - which to me seems to be what they're doing and why he's rolling over everything oddly enough - he needs to play. They may see results in BP right now and even in the cages, but it's not transitioning to the field. They will want him to play through it to find the change in the game as well.

mazara
Mazara has played 33 games and has 107 abs with zero spring. The sox wouldn't move on from the guy if he had a bad 5 weeks in a regular season.

Sox aren't going to cut ties with a guy they liked because of 40 games in a weird season. Only way I see them cutting him loose is if he's been disrespectful or uncoachable

I like Engel but similarly to mccann, I think he's benefited big time from how they've used him. Playing him daily likely exposes him. At least his defense is there and with mazara having zero power somehow, you're not losing much offensively if at all.

I want a RF as much as anyone - I think based on my George Springer thread people know that. I just don't believe the sox will allow a weird year where they succeeded with him struggling to stop them from believing he can untap something with in a normal season. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see it.

mazara
Some likely bad news for everyone; Mazara isn't going anything. They weren't going to let a 60 game season decide whether he could figure it out or not. They'll say these were challenging circumstances and he'll be back next year. The good news is I kind of agree with that thought process - for someone trying to implement change to his swing and etc, a 60 game season with no spring was not the best way to do it. The Sox will want to see what a full season looks like in a normal structure. It's also why they haven't stopped playing him. They are trying to make changes and the changes can't hold if he doesn't play.

Comparing Sox young guys to past players
People really need to look up Mike Cameron's career. He is likely the most underrated player in the last 30+ years of baseball. If Robert's floor is a 50 fWAR player, he's something else. For his 12 full years of games, Cameron averaged 4.2 fWAR per SEASON. 50.6 fWAR for his career. Cameron was a monster.

Ozzie isn't very good on the Pre/Post-Game
I think Frank and Chuck have been great; Ozzie has gotten better and stopped talking about himself so much, but he still doesn't offer much for me.
