Look at Ray Ray Run

He was always living on the edge as a command based arm with pretty below average stuff. Rays were able to maximize his outcomes, but we're talking about a guy with a career FIP near 4.7 whose stuff has taken another step back. He's always given up a bunch of bombs and this year is no different, and he's actually giving up even more flyballs, with a lot of hard contact. Not a good combo.

Ok, my last post in this thread. Wilson Contreras hasn't caught a game since 2024. He is now a 1B/DH. He had an 850 OPS as a catcher two years ago. Catching is hard, it beats up your body. Nothing weird about a guy moving from behind the dish and being healthier and stronger and having a big year. The Red Sox are 4th in wRC+ since July 1st at 117. There is nothing historically crazy about a 117 wRC+ over a month. The Minnesota Twins had a 122 wRC+ in June. Were they cheating? No idea why people are so infatuated with a guy hitting a low sinker in the spot Brazoban always throws his sinker. That was a great piece of hitting. Durbin has been worse for the Sox than he was for the Brewers, Monasterio has been basically the same offensive player he was for 60 games last year with the Brewers, Abreu has been basically the exact same player he's always been the years prior, Rafaela was a 24 year old who took a step forward (hardly shocking, look at the Sox!), Yoshida has been better than he was last year, but worse than he was the two years prior, Connor Wong better than last year but worse than the year before. Where are all these career years? Contreras is having a career year, that's about it.

That whole thing sounded like: "Oh they crushed you, but I've been watching you and this is why" type situation to lift up his pitchers confidence. Who knows though, still a big Teel fan so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on being wise!

Call people cheaters before they kick your ass. Doing it after just makes you look like a whiner. Beyond that, the fact that the Sun Times had an article after Davis Martin's whooping insinuating something suspicious (although they claimed it was "legal") as to why he got crushed, and then two days later we have other Sox media-aligned person tweeting about cheating isn't the best look in the world imo.

Yeah, but it goes back to the idea that they paid for Dominguez to provide a level of performance at one position. That level of performance has now gone out the door, and you've obtained someone else at a different position. The costs themselves don't off-set, and no one would say Castillo now is only making 13 million which is "what he'd get on the open market." If you wanted to trade Castillo, you need to move the whole 23 million meaning the market won't trade you for him because he doesn't actually cost 13 million that is being claimed to be his real cost "in line with the market."

Davis Martin gets smacked around and the team releases the idea that red Sox had a tell and he was tipping pitches. Two days later James is tweeting about cheating. White sox media is becoming as bad a politically slanted media with their talking points. I bet the red sox are very happy to know theyre in the head of the opponent like this though.

Idk. Its pretty ridiculous to accuse a team of cheating with zero evidence based solely on the idea that they beat you badly and are on a hot streak. When I was playing, we'd call that being a sore loser.

The below is a heat map of where Brazoban has thrown his sinker in 2026. The bottom image is the pitch in question that was hit. You'll notice it's almost like the Red Sox just have a.... scouting report!

I'm struggling to see how Castillo suddenly gets paid less because you traded another asset that cost money? Castillo's price is 23 million. This implication that Dominguez is worth zero dollars so his entire salary is an off-set is tough to accept. The Sox lost the player they valued as a 10 million/yr player 6 months ago. That's not some net monetary gain that limits the cost of Castillo on the open market.

This is an incredible thread. Sox get swept, so the other team must be cheating. Brazoban throws his sinker low in the zone because that's where sinkers go, guy goes down and gets it... cheating. I'm having a hard time understanding the logic here. Struggling to understand how it's cheating to be looking for a low sinker from a sinker baller who throws 51% sinkers and hitting it.

To me, it's more that the Sox pitching isn't great and it's gotten smacked around by good offensive teams. Sox also have a stark home vs road split, and they're offense is 10 wRC+ points better at home than on the road. We wouldn't call them cheaters though, but teams who cheat tend to do so in their own ballpark. The Red Sox have the opposite split, they've been a much better offense on the road than at home. I'm skeptical that some team has an elaborate road cheating scheme.

Are the White Sox cheating?!?! They were projected to win 64 games and they're on pace to win in the mid 80's with a plus plus offense!!

Hope he figures it out. it's been a trend following him as he moves up levels. Sam too good though.
