  1. I'd feel more confident if the Brewers still had Yeli. That team is just not good. This is fun though.
  2. This orginization has a lot of fragile egos associated with it considering how awful they've been.
  3. I really think they are going to move 1 of KB, Schwarber, Contreras, or Baez this winter or next. We'll see.
  4. He's looking like he might have a shot to get above that now lol.
  5. Ricky Renteria is god fucking awful. This thread is about Joe Maddon, to have Joe Maddon would mean Ricky is gone. There are much better options than Maddon. If you think Jon Jay batting 4th in a non-compete year drove Sox fans mad, wew.
  6. Joe Maddon out manages himself way too often and has run pens into the ground. I don't think I want to see Wacky Joe lineups with Zack Collins leading off or Jose Abreu playing 3B. No thanks
  7. I'm just saying it opens up a ton of options, Rendon makes sense, Moose makes sense, a trade for a Brian Anderson makes sense. Madrigal is a top prospect, you could headline a ton of deals with him and adding in Stiever or Dunning as secondary pieces. We still have needs that probably won't be filled in FA since this class is not that great outside of a couple players.
  8. Because regardless of what position is theoretically more "valuable", there would be ONE player in all of baseball with a higher OPS than Yo at 2b, Jose Altuve. Roster construction wise I'd love to have the pinnacle of 2b on our team and sign a slugging 3b. Nick Madrigal does not slug, as good as he might be one day. Look at how, why, and what teams are winning with now.
  9. He can't hit the ball out of the infield, and when he does everything is opposite field. I don't think PEDs has anything to do with that.
  10. He also sucked offensively last year. Why does everyone assume his defensive position reflects his offense? He's more valuable at 2B because he has a 900 OPS, aren't many of those around. Then you fill 3B with another guy with 850-900 OPS and your infield mashes. Madrigal could never dream of that.
  11. Harper has been worth his contract so far in his first year.
  12. I'm more of a "No" on Yolmer than I am on Engel but that's not saying a lot.
  13. Engel does this every year. He can't hit all year and suddenly hits a couple bombs late to trick the Sox in bringing him back the next year.
  14. No, I don't want the Sox paying 6 million a year for a glove first utility IF. That could be a bullpen piece. I have a hard time believing Mendick or some other FA utility player wouldn't provide more value for the Sox. I also like Yolmer and think he's a good guy. He just doesn't make sense going forward.
  15. Who also is still capable GG caliber defense, which we are also severly lacking. If they don't sign Cole or Strasburg or pick up a big money bat with the money Machado didn't get in the next 2 off seasons it will always be a complete whiff and not some blessing. Also all of those players are on this team aside from Robert and Vaughn, and Vaughn is taking over for Abreu. There is still a lack of power in that lineup for how teams are constructed currenttly.
  16. This is funny. A team in the bottom 5 in HR's doing the mental gymnastics about Machado. He's worth 3 bWAR in a down year and has 30 dingers. That wouldn't have mattered this year, but for a team starved for power production going into the next few years that could have been a huge boost. Not to mention Yo is probably an All-Star at 2b.
