I think GreenSox’s opinion makes a lot of sense. Mazara has been mediocre thus far as a corner outfielder and he is only under control for two more seasons. Even if he does breakout, guess who his agent is? Boras. So he will more than likely be taken to free agency. There won’t be a chance at a reasonable extension if Mazara booms after the Sox acquire him.

I am starting to think Hahn simply acquires guys based on draft position and not the Sox own scouting. Either that or their scouting must be putrid. How could the Sox and their scouts have been after A.J. Reed for years, as it has been reported a few times? What did they see about him that we aren’t? The guy is an overweight DH with a massive hole in his ridiculous uppercut swing.

More amazing is the ego of the front office to talk about acquiring a big name all of last offseason only to fail miserably. Hahn is an educated guy and even he didn't know enough to downplay it. I am guessing this upcoming offseason will be the return of STEALTH MODE!!!

Agreed, but it's okay to call out a front office if they are bad at their jobs. Poor performing people get canned from their jobs all the time. Hahn and Kenny are not infallible and should not be immune from scrutiny but they sure seem to be under Uncle Jerry.

The Sox haven't had a winning season since 2012, in case you were wondering. Doom and gloom has been around for longer than the rebuild under this front office. Unless the rebuild has been going on for 7 years now...

Agreed, but guess who his agent is? He would only be worth acquiring if you could quickly extend him to a reasonable contract extension. He's gone in two years.

True, but Leury is only under control for one more year. He is probably a valuable trade chip right now. I have no problem with moving Leury just like Colome with only one year of control remaining, if the return looks pretty good. If the return is right, I'd be all for moving Leury and going with Kemp and Mendick as your backup infielder/utility guys next season.

The Sox should definitely be willing to give up some non-prospect for Kemp. He can play all over and would make an acceptable starting 2B until Madrigal hits his Kris Bryant deadline next year and then he would make a fine utility bench the rest of the way.

Cruz owns Giolito three times and then Jimmy freaking Cordero owns Cruz. Go figure. But I can see why they claimed Cordero. He has amazing stuff like Ruiz, if they can only somehow harness it. That's usually the biggest problem though...
