  1. You go cheap until young guys are ready and then you strike on the free agent market for the big time starter or position player that you need. I have no faith that the Sox will do this.
  2. Read my post again. I said Keuchel is a good signing for the Braves. I didn’t suggest he would be a good signing for the Sox. However, if you are trying to lose, why even waste money on the bums Hahn did sign? Also, my point was also that Hahn doesn’t seem to understand the concept of spending on quality over quantity.
  3. The Sox are obviously going cheap on this rebuild. No big or top FA’s will be signed. I don’t think this should be a surprise to anyone at this point.
  4. No, I’m sorry but no 4th round draft pick only making the big leagues as a pinch runner is a win. Like I said, a player with pinch running as his only skill is a dime a dozen. You can sign Terrance Gore at the minimum for that.
  5. Yeah, Hahn already wasted enough money on garbage like Nova ($9M), Alonso ($9M), Herrera (2-years / $18M), Jay ($4M), and whatever they had to pay Santana to leave after 3 starts. Jesus, that’s $40M+ total wasted in one offseason. But Keuchel at 1-year / $13M for the Braves is a nice deal. Hopefully, Hahn will learn from this going forward, start signing difference makers over veteran has-been’s, and improve on his FA signings. But I sincerely doubt it.
  6. Nope, I post about the failures of our ownership and front office... factual stuff.
  7. There is no pro-rating. Here are the contract details: https://mobile.twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1136451348868882435?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-6867396822925748664.ampproject.net%2F1905292322390%2Fframe.html ”Craig Kimbrel's deal with the Chicago Cubs is for three years and $43 million and includes a fourth-year option, sources tell ESPN. He'll receive $10 million this season and $16 million in 2020 and 2021. There is a $1 million buyout on a club/vesting option for the fourth year.”
  8. The Sox have another year of control on Colome but your point remains. It all depends on what the Sox turn Colome into. If we get another Rutherford, the trade was bust city.
  9. True, cuz if Eloy, Madrigal, and Robert all pan out, what hole is left other than in the rotation? Right field.
  10. Of course not. Sin city’s specialty is troll posts like this. He gets off on seeing these responses.
  11. I said the same thing above. But ultimately, it doesn’t matter. It would be “the Sox” fault. One would have to question their desire to win if they use the excuse that they are limited by their current and future budget after that Forbes article came out earlier this year.
  12. Definitely the most realistic suggestion mentioned as he is currently #63 on the MLB Top 100 list. However, his lack of HRs and his walk-to-strikeout rate scare me. But he’s only 20. Would be worth taking a chance on him for 1.5 years of Colome.
  13. Nah, he still has to be better than that. If you want a guy like this, just do what the Cubs did and signs guy like Terrance Gore. They are a dime a dozen.
  14. Sorry but your response is a cop-out. What do you think a .272 / .346 / .723 line in A+ equates to in the majors? Now obviously Madrigal can improve and the Sox must think he will but to promote him to AA based on that line just means the Sox are fast-tracking him regardless of whether he deserves it or not. So don’t use Madrigal’s promotion as a sign of him doing well in the minors. The Sox are just pushing him forward, regardless of his actual production.
  15. The Sox haven’t been to the playoffs in 11 years. In those 11 years, the Sox only have 2 seasons that they finished with a record over .500. I don’t know about anyone else but does it really matter if you lose only 85 games instead of 100?!? A losing season without making the playoffs is a bad and disappointing season regardless. I think the reaction would be pretty much the same as what you have already seen — zero trust and faith in Sox ownership and the front office.
  16. True, but his numbers still stunk and he had shown no power. It seemed he was ranked high mostly due to his draft position.
  17. Rutherford was ranked 30th on the MLB T100 list at the time of the trade. Be careful what you wish for. “CHICAGO - The Chicago White Sox have acquired outfielder Blake Rutherford, the No. 30 prospect in baseball according to MLB.com, left-handed pitcher Ian Clarkin, outfielder Tito Polo and right-hander Tyler Clippard from the New York Yankees in exchange for third baseman Todd Frazier and right-handers Tommy Kahnle and David Robertson.”
  18. I guess we can always point to the Cubs giving up their top prospect for 3 months of Chapman but I don’t see the Braves going balls out like the Cubs did.
  19. Agreed, but also expecting to get one of the best OF prospects (e.g. Pache) in baseball for 1.5 years of Colome is not exactly realistic.
  20. Does anyone else remember the articles that came out right after both Machado and Harper signed? Didn’t Kenny and/or Hahn basically infer that the Sox would likely be outpriced in the big name free agent market going forward and would have to stick with building from within? I’m pretty sure this was when Kenny made all his stupid comments about the Machado signing and the Sox “better offer” than the Padres’. I looked for the article but couldn’t find it. But I think Rendon, Cole, Ozuna, etc. are all pipe dreams so don’t get your hopes up.
  21. Yep, it would be tough to argue Colome for Newcomb straight up.
  22. It definitely is. I agree that Lopez has to keep pitching in the rotation as well. But maybe try something different and pull him after 5 if he has a good outing. Try to build his confidence by letting the bullpen blow the game instead of Lopez. 😂
  23. The rumblings have been that since July 31st is now the one and only deadline (no more waiver trades up to August 31st), teams may jump to make trades earlier than normal. For anyone not aware... http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/trade-deadline “As of 2019, the July 31 Trade Deadline is the only trade deadline. Players may still be placed and claimed on outright waivers after July 31, but trades will no longer be permitted after that date. With regards to newly acquired players, the Aug. 31 postseason roster deadline remains in effect.”
  24. Willy’s little brother would be nice but Newcomb as well? For 1.5 years of Colome? That might be getting a little greedy.
