  1. So all you have to reference is a signing in 1996 (23 freaking years ago!) and Abreu who was only $68 million total, which is not even close to what Cole will receive? Keep trying. It’s not happening and I will be here to tell you I told you so.
  2. Too bad the best player in the list is a pipe dream.
  3. Herrera?!? Because of one game? And Colome will be traded so enjoy him while you can.
  4. Guys like Cole and Rendon are pipe dreams. They will be the top tier talent this offseason and will receive the top offers. The Sox only hope is a guy like Puig continuing to have a bad season and getting him on a discount. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn’t been following the Sox.
  5. It’s a video game trade where the computer initially laughs and disagrees that it’s fair but your override if anyways.
  6. Yep, he would’ve been perfect for what position is needed and for the fan draw and marketing. And $25 million a year, albeit for 13 years, isn’t a payroll killer.
  7. It would be nice if he continues to suck. Then I could see the Sox having a good chance at signing him and he would obviously be a good candidate to bounce back. Turning 29 in the offseason. All the Cubans!
  8. So it looks like the only hole right now is RF going forward. I would love to get a near ready OF prospect for Colome but I’m not sure how realistic that is. The three best OF free agents are Ozuna, Puig, and Castellanos. So what’s the plan? 2B Nick Madrigal CF Luis Robert 3B Yoan Moncada DH Jose Abreu (if he accepts a short team-friendly deal) LF Eloy Jimenez SS Tim Anderson 1B Andrew Vaughn C James McCann / Zack Collins RF ???
  9. This is very nice to see. Not sure how he went from good to insane moving to AA. Eric “Tight Pants” Byrnes was on The Score this morning and he thinks that Andrew Vaughn could hit major league pitching right now. Best swing he’s seen. Compared him to Josh Donaldson. He sees Vaughn on the major league roster next year. Sounds like 2B and 1B will be filled shortly. If Abreu would sign on to a short term team friendly DH deal, every spot would be filled other than RF.
  10. Has any GM added three worse starters than Nova, Santana, and Banuelos in one offseason to fill out their rotation? Nova: 6.42 ERA Santana: Cut after 9.45 ERA in 3 starts Banuelos: 7.00 ERA It would have been nicer to see the Sox donate that $10+ million to charity.
  11. At this point, it doesn’t matter much. He’s old and he’s a DH. I’d be fine extending him for 2 years. Not sure about 3.
  12. His trades do but his free agent signings are about as bad as you can get.
  13. Hahn doesn’t need to waste any more money on players we shouldn’t want.
  14. Eh, heard this guy on The Score. Nerd. John Cusack is still the worst... you can find him on Google wearing both Sox and Cubs hats.
  15. Yes, but what is barely over half a win going to do to improve this team for the rest of the season? Why bother if it isn’t going to make them a contender? Bring the next chump in line up from the minors. If they were decently over .500 and you had one massive hole in the rotation, Cashner would make sense, but the Sox aren’t that close this year. Or are you of the opinion that the Sox still have a shot at the Wild Card?
  16. Okay, I checked Cot’s and confirmed the option information. I was wrong there. But your reply of .6 WAR answers questions one and two, doesn’t it?
  17. First question — What do you think Cashner’s WAR is for the rest of the season? Second question — Is that even worth bothering to acquire? Third question — Cashner has a $10 million dollar team option for 2020. Do you really want to leave it up to Hahn to not waste more money on yet another bad starter with an ERA over 5 next offseason? Nova and Santana were enough for me.
  18. They are 32-34. Do you think they are a contender with the rotation they have right now? Herrera is not tradeable right now due to his salary and performance. Also, I see McCann being retained because he has one more year of control, Castillo will be gone, and no one knows whether or not Collins can hack it full time behind the plate. Abreu should be traded but the way Hahn talks about him, it doesn’t sound like he will be. Colome is the only guy I am sure will be traded.
  19. Probably his best call of all time. Might be the first HR he recognized immediately. 😂
