9/17- Sox at Twins, 6:40, NBCSC
I like this: Madrigal Robert Moncada Eloy Abreu Anderson etc. Of course, I’m assuming we will have a manager who won’t want a #2 hitter who “does all the little things” like bunting runners to 2nd or 3B or hits the other way. I have no doubt that Ricky will bat Madrigal second since he is such an old school geezer manager.

Because he’s an old school archaic manager trying to manage in the new era of baseball. He calls for bunts in the second inning of games and lives and dies by the law of lefty/righty, both with his lineups and reliever and pinch hitting choices. If the Sox didn’t hire him, he wouldn’t have a job right now.

At this point, I know they could win this game with a better manager and definitely with their 2020 lineup. I’d rather they tank for the pick now.

Eh, he’s just been exposed in a full-time role just like Yolmer. But unlike Yolmer, he will be cheap to bring back next year in a backup role.

Yes, indeed. A new manager is as vital as a new SP or RF this offseason.

Ricky pulling all the right strings to tank this golden opportunity away.

Lefties must always be pinch hit against righty pitchers. LvR / RvL for life!

People say this every time Engel has a hot streak but ultimately he never keeps it going and his OPS falls back into the .600’s. He’s nearing 28. He is what he is.

James McCann - catcher of the future ?
Signing Grandal makes all the sense in the world. A switch hitter who is stronger from the left side. He protects the Sox against McCann falling back to his putrid Detroit numbers and also allows the Sox to DH Collins if they truly don’t think he can handle the backup catcher role. Add a lefty RF and maybe a righty bench bat to platoon with Collins at DH (or give Yermin a shot) and you have the makings of a solid lineup.

You don’t think that once the season is over, that $5 million dollars and only 2 weeks of waiting for Madrigal won’t play a big factor in Hahn’s decision? I just think the Sox don’t feel the need to get their 2020 backup utility infielder that many developmental at bats.

$5 million could be a decent relief pitcher. Hahn should be smart enough to make the right move. But then again, his last offseason was putrid for the most part.

I hope he hits a couple more dongs. .270 .825 30 75 That would be an amazing season considering he missed significant time with two injuries.

I don’t care what Ricky says. If Hahn isn’t bright enough to save around $5 million dollars by giving Ricky Mendick as his utility infielder instead of Yolmer, he’s a putz.

The only reason to watch at this point is to see Eloy reach 30 HR and Anderson’s batting title race. I was hoping to see Mendick over Yolmer but who knows what the deal is? If they think that playing Yolmer contributes to the draft pick tank more, then go for it. It would be amazing if they could steal #6 from Seattle. ?

Former Sox updates (Avi, etc)
I was thinking about players both the Sox and Cubs have traded away or let go in recent years and made a pretty good lineup out of them. I had to play around with some of their positions but the only true weak spot offensively is Candelario. I guess you could throw DJ LeMahieu at 1B but the Cubs traded him away so long ago (2011). SS Marcus Semien 3B Fernando Tatis Jr. 2B Gleybor Torres LF Jorge Soler DH Daniel Vogelbach CF Eduardo Escobar RF Avisail Garcia C Omar Narvaez / Josh Phegley 1B Jeimer Candelario

2020 RF options
Corey Dickerson is done for the season with a fractured left foot. Do you try to sign him cheaply in the offseason or do you avoid him because he seems quite injury prone?

All these young QBs excelling and of course we wind up with the dud. Brutal.

He was 16 for 27 for 120 yards. That’s pretty putrid in today’s NFL.

Hub Arkush just mentioned this on The Score. That Trubisky is more accurate when throwing on the move and they should run more plays that allow for him to do this.

At least you gave up defending Trubisky.
-
NFL Thread 2019-2020
Lol, what a weak way for him to win the bet. Trubisky sucked.
